Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division redelivered the Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) guided missile destroyer USS Ramage (DDG 61) to the U.S. Navy on Monday, four days ahead of schedule. The ship, originally built by Ingalls and delivered to the Navy in 1995, arrived in Pascagoula last November for overhaul and modernization work.

As a result of the Krylov Center’s efforts, the corvette, with a very moderate displacement, carries extremely powerful weapons for this type of ships consisting of 24 universal vertical launchers for surface-to-surface missiles, as well as 16 vertical launchers for longer-range surface-to-air missiles (SAM) and 32 - for short-range SAMs, the Zvezda TV channel reported.

L3 WESCAM announced that it has recently been awarded an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract worth up to $49 million from the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) for its MX-10MS electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) imaging turrets. The systems will be integrated by NSWC Crane into a larger system solution in support of the situational awareness system requirement for the Military Sealift Command Electro-Optical System (MSC-EOS) program.

LCS Gowind Frigate Malaysia TLDM RMN Boustead Naval Group 001 The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN or Tentera Laut DiRaja Malaysia; TLDM) launched and named today its first Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Gowind frigate. The ceremony took place at Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Berhad (BHIC) Lumut shipyard (Western Malaysia) on August 24th. The first of class vessel is now known as KD Maharaja Lela.
 

French Navy Aquitaine-class Frigate Auvergne Begins First Operational Deployment

The French Navy (Marine Nationale) announced that the FREMM multi-mission frigate Auvergne set sail for its first operational deployment. This fourth frigate of the Aquitaine-class is deploying to the Indian Ocean for over four months. This deployment is part of the verification of the unit's military capabilities before entering "active duty".

The programme of work included the supply of multiple in-water sonars and redundant control room equipment in order to provide uninterrupted situational awareness over a large waterfront.

On 20 July 2017, Systems Engineering Associates Corporation (SEA CORP) of Middletown was awarded a new $21.5 Million contract to provide engineering services for the U.S. Navy and Royal Australian Navy’s current and future submarine platforms. SEA CORP and its team of subcontractors will provide services and materials to the Undersea Warfare Combat Systems Department of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport.

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced the successful completion of acceptance sea trials for the amphibious transport dock Portland (LPD 27). The San Antonio-class ship, built at HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division, spent last week with the U.S. Navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV), performing more than 200 trial events that included both in-port and underway portions.

Dr. Jagdish Mukhi, Lieutenant Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, commissioned IN LCU L52 into the Indian Navy on August 21st at Port Blair. IN LCU L52 is the second Landing Craft Utility (LCU) Mk-IV class to be inducted into the Indian Navy. The ship has been indigenously designed and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, Kolkata. The commissioning of L-52 is yet another manifestation of the potential of the country’s indigenous design and ship building capability.

The Russian Navy’s special operations forces (SOF) will receive the newest P-650 special-purpose midget submarines. These ships display just 720 tons and will be able to covertly deliver special-purpose and SOF groups to the shore and retrieve them. The submarine was designed by the Malakhit Special Marine Engineering Design Bureau. According to experts, it will be a response to the introduction of submarines converted by the U.S. Navy into SOF platforms, the newspaper Izvestia reported.

Raytheon begins AN/SPY-6(V) Air and Missile Defense Radar - AMDR - production Raytheon Company's AN/SPY-6(V) Air and Missile Defense Radar successfully searched for, acquired and tracked a ballistic missile test target during its second live-target flight test at the U.S. Navy's Pacific Missile Range Facility, Kauai, Hawaii. This test event featured a more complex, threat-representative ballistic missile target than prior tests, intended to challenge the detection and tracking capabilities of the new radar. AN/SPY-6 acquired and maintained the long-range missile target track, from launch through flight.
