In particular, the talk is about the submarines Krasnodar and Stary Oskol.
"The fleet is receiving advanced ships. This year, we have received about 30 ships and vessels, including 10 warships and boats," the commander said. According to him, the Black Sea Fleet has formed a new coastal defense large unit.
In 2016, Black Sea Fleet ships have passed at sea twice as much time as planned. "This year was very intensive for the Black Sea Fleet. We accomplished tasks in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea and the Black and the Azov Seas. The ships passed at sea twice as much time as planned," Vitko said.
According to him, the frigate Admiral Grigorovich and the small missile ships Zelyony Dol and Serpukhov delivered strikes against militants in Syria.
"Kalibr [NATO reporting name: SS-N-27 Sizzler] missiles have shown their effectiveness," he added. "In 2017, we will continue operating as part of the Russian Navy’s grouping in the Mediterranean Sea," the commander said.
