The Admiral Gorshkov had to join the fleet yet in 2016, but the deadline was numerously postponed because of the necessity to again check all systems and the main weapon - Poliment-Redut missile complex. The following warships of the series are delayed by a lack of power plants which were produced in Ukraine (first Russian-made engines produced by Saturn in Rybinsk are due in late 2018).

The Admiral Gorshkov is the lead frigate of project 22350 laid in early 2006 and floated in the autumn of 2010. It began trials in November 2014.

Project 22350 has a displacement of 5 thousand tons and develops a speed of 29 knots. The crew comprises 179 men. The warships are armed with Onix and Kalibr missiles and Poliment-Redut air defense missiles. Six frigates have to join the Navy by 2025. Shoigu said frigates like the Admiral Gorshkov will be the backbone of the Russian Navy in the near future.
