Sweden to purchase two Bofors 40 Mk4 guns for its Navy


The Swedish Navy has decided to acquire two BAE Systems Bofors 40 Mk4 40mm guns in order to arm its vessels.

These two guns created and designed by BAE Systems Bofors AB are to be delivered by 2020. The 40 Mk4 are flexible, compact and relatively light weapon systems which provide a high rate of fire. This remotelly weapon enables the crew to stay under protection while being engaging any target.

This system also has an ability to switch between optimized ammunition types, including the intelligent 40mm 3P (Pre-fragmented, Programmable, Proximity-fused) all-target ammunition. Such ammunition can be programmed in six different modes, providing optimised effect against aerial, surface or shore threats.
