US Navy Commissions USS Michael Murphy, latest destroyer of Arleigh-Burke class, in New York City
 
USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112), the Navy's newest guided-missile destroyer, was commissioned during a formal ceremony at pier 88 in Manhattan, Oct. 6. The newest destroyer honors Lt. (SEAL) Michael P. Murphy, a New York native who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan, June 28, 2005.

Austal launches USNS Choctaw County Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV 2)
 
On October 1, 2012, Austal USA successfully completed the launch process of the second Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV), the recently christened USNS Choctaw County (JHSV 2). This 103-metre high-speed catamaran represents the US Department of Defense’s next generation multi-use platform. It is part of a 10-ship program potentially worth over US$1.6 billion.

VT Halter Marine Partners with DCNS to Offer OPC Solution for U.S. Coast Guard
 
VT Halter Marine, Inc. (VT Halter Marine), a subsidiary of VT Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), today announced its partnership agreement with DCNS to submit a proposal to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for the design and construction of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC). VT Halter Marine will be the prime contractor and DCNS will be its exclusive subcontractor for the OPC platform design.

Elbit Systems to Supply Battle Management Systems for the Royal Australian Navy

U.S. Coast Guard To Acquire Three Additional Lockheed Martin HC-130J Surveillance Aircraft
 
Lockheed Martin received a $218 million contract for three additional HC-130Js for the U.S. Coast Guard. This will increase the U.S. Coast Guard fleet of HC-130Js from six to nine. The contract also includes funding for two mission suites, which are critical in supporting U.S. Coast Guard search and rescue operations. The new aircraft are scheduled to be delivered in early 2015.
