Russian-built aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya arrives at its naval base in India
 
On November 16, 2013, the formal handover ceremony and transfer of the Project 11430 aircraft carrier Vikramaditya (INS Vikramaditya) to the Indian Navy will be held at the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk. Vikramaditya, a retrofitted Russian Project 11434 heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Gorshkov, will be the flagship of India’s Navy. The official Indian delegation is headed by the country’s Defense Minister Arackaparambil Kurian Antony.
A refitted former Soviet aircraft carrier has reached the Indian coast after leaving Russia’s northern shipyard in mid-November, media report said on Wednesday. The Vikramaditya, a refurbished Russian carrier formerly known as the Admiral Gorshkov, arrived at a naval base in Kanwar in the western state of Karnataka on Tuesday, Indian IBN television reported citing sources in the Navy.

Lockheed Martin received an $84.5 million contract on Dec. 23 from the U.S. Navy to produce paveway II Enhanced Laser Guided Training Rounds (ELGTR). Under the four-year indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract, Lockheed Martin will deliver ELGTRs, shipping containers, logistics and product support to the U.S. Navy.

Russian Navy Pilots to Train in Enhanced Ilyushin Il-38N Maritime Patrol Aircraft in 2014
 
Russian Northern Fleet pilots will undergo retraining in 2014 to master the modernized Ilyushin Il-38N anti-submarine aircraft, a military official told journalists Sunday. The first crew has already completed the theoretical part of the program and has begun the practical flight training, said Captain First Rank Vadim Serga, a representative of the Northern Fleet.

HST CSG, comprised of the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), guided-missile cruisers USS Gettysburg (CG 64) and USS San Jacinto (CG 56) and guided-missile destroyers USS Bulkeley (DDG 84), USS Carney (DDG 64), USS Hopper (DDG 70) and USS Mason (DDG 87) is operating with the French navy's Task Force 473 to enhance cooperation and interoperability in the region.

For those not so conversant with weapons systems, the Typhoon is a large gun with a rapid rate of fire.

The type-056 corvette (locally designated guided missile frigate) “Ji’an” was delivered to a troop unit under the East China Sea Fleet of the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLAN) on the morning of December 31, 2013 in Shanghai. Corvette “Ji’an” with the hull number of 586 was named after the Ji’an city of east China’s Jiangxi province.

According to a report broadcast by Shenzhen Television, The new Zubr class amphibious hovercraft recently aquired and built by China will allow the PLAN to quikcly deploy troops to the disputed Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea as well as the Spratly islands and Taiwan itself.

Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) divers recently completed the first full underwater waterjet seal and evaluation on a littoral combat ship (LCS), USS Fort Worth (LCS 3), the Navy announced, Jan. 2. LCS class ships are unique to the U.S. Navy because they use waterjets instead of propellers for propulsion. Each waterjet draws seawater in through a duct, increases the water's pressure and then ejects it, causing the ship to move.

Turkish shipbuilding company Yonca Onuk on December 24, 2013 delivered to the Navy of Qatar in Tuzla (Istanbul) the first MRTP 34 Fast Patrol Craft. The Turkish shipyard signed in early 2012 a contract to deliver three units of ONUK MRTP34 Fast Patrol/Attack Craft and three units of ONUK MRTP16 Fast Intervention Craft to the Qatar Armed Forces.
