Navy Northern Fleet testing UAVs for underwater sabotage countermeasures
The
Northern Fleet anti underwater sabotage unit specialists conducted trials
of the UAV “Takhion” which was designed to conduct air reconnaissance
and detecting small and nearly invisible coastal, surface and underwater
objects.

“Takhion” were designed in order to be operated in the Far
North conditions. They are equipped with infrared thermal imaging cameras.
This UAV is small-sized and light-weighted so it can be operated in
vast range of temperatures and altitudes, and also in conditions of
significant air velocity.
Trails were conducted in bays on the coast of the Kola Peninsula. First
of all, specialists assessed the “Takhion’s” capabilities
in detecting military divers and watercrafts at different depths, mobile
bases of sabotage groups, ambushes and secrets especially at night time.
