Three More Type 072A LST Tank Landing Ships Join PLAN's East China Sea Fleet
 
Following the commissioning of Tianmushan in January, three more Type 072A Tank Landing Ships (LST) joined the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) on March 7. Named Wuyishan, Culaishan and Wutaishan the LST have joined the PLAN's East Sea Fleet.

Chinese PLAN new Tank Landing Ships
     
The class was developed domestically. It's about 120 meters long, and 16 meters wide, with a displacement of 5,008 tons. It can sail at a maximum speed of 20 nautical miles per hour. According to official media it has good concealment abilities, and the design makes it easier for landing equipment to load and offload.

The ship is equipped with artillery, and has a helicopter landing pad. Its major mission is to transport landing troops , transport supplies and wounded personnel, and to conduct other non-combat military operations.
