USMC Fields APKWS II Laser-Guided Rockets with its AV-8B Harriers Aircraft
 
The US Naval Air Systems Command has delivered the first APKWS II laser-guided rockets to VMA-223 currently deployed in the Middle East area. The delivery marks the first operational use of the rockets with the AV-8B Harrier aircraft of the USMC.

First Aircraft Recovery for the CVN 79 Advanced Arresting Gear
 
The US Navy and General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) completed successfully on March 31 their first aircraft arrestment with the Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG). The system, which will be installed on the future John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) aircraft carrier, currently under construction, is integrated on the Pre-Commissioning Unit USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), undergoing trials.

IMCMEX World's Largest Maritime Exercise Underway in Middle East
 
The International Mine Countermeasures Exercise, the largest maritime exercise in the world, kicked off April 4, with international naval and civilian maritime forces from more than 30 nations spanning six continents training together across the Middle East. The exercise is organized and led by U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, which leads U.S. Navy and afloat Marine Corps forces across the more than 2.5 million square miles of ocean in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

US Navy Awards GD Bath Iron Works $644 Million for Construction of Flight III DDG 51 Class Destroyer
 
The U.S. Navy has awarded funding for the planning and construction of DDG 124, the Fiscal Year 2016 Arleigh Burke-class destroyer under contract at General Dynamics Bath Iron Works. The $644.3 million contract modification fully funds this ship, which was awarded as part of a multi-year competition for DDG 51 class destroyers awarded in 2013. The total value of the five-ship contract is approximately $3.4 billion. General Dynamics Bath Iron Works is a business unit of General Dynamics.

Austal Limited (Austal) is pleased to announce construction of one additional Littoral Combat Ship has been funded by the U.S. Navy. LCS 26 will be the eleventh Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ships built by Austal as prime contractor, with the U.S. Navy exercising an option in addition to Austal’s existing 10-vessel block- buy contract. Funding for LCS 26 has been confirmed by the US Navy as not to exceed the congressional cost cap of US$564 million increasing Austal’s order book to approximately A$3 billion.

The work to integrate modernized anti-ship X-35U (Kh-35U) missile into the mobile coastal defense complex 3K60 Bal is ongoing, Director General and Designer General of Morinformsistema-Agat Company Georgy Antsev told TASS. He also said that a drone designed by Radar-mms research and production enterprise is planned to be used for targeting of the mobile coastal defense complex 3K60 Bal.
