FREMM Aquitaine, French Navy’s newest Frigate, conducts RAS with US Navy units
 
On April 3, 2013, off the U.S. coast, French Navy’s newest frigate FREMM Aquitaine conducted a Replenishment at Sea (RAS) alongside USNS John Lenthall (T-AO-189), a Henry J. Kaiser-class fleet replenishment oiler, and USS Stout (DDG-55) a Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer.
     
On April 3, 2013, off the U.S. coast, French Navy’s newest frigate FREMM Aquitaine conducted a Replenishment at Sea (RAS) alongside USNS John Lenthall (T-AO-189), a Henry J. Kaiser-class fleet replenishment oiler, and USS Stout (DDG-55) a Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer.

This replenishment at sea maneuver demonstrates once again the perfect interoperability between NATO allied navies. The three vessels, linked to each other by various cables to transfer fuel and supplies, were sailing at 12 knots for several nautical miles. In less than an hour, FREMM Aquitaine received more than 120m3 of fuel.

The French Navy Frigate then parted ways with the Replenishment Oiler and Destroyer to participate to the “Independent Deployer” exercise held by the US Navy.

FREMM Aquitaine is currently conducting its “long cruise” which allows the crew to test their brand new ship and her systems and to ensure the highest level of readiness with this new class of frigate. Following port of calls in Brazil and Cuba, FREMM Aquitaine made a stop at Naval Station Norfolk, USA.
