Russia in Talks With India for Local Production of Amur-1650 Submarines
& Project 11356 Frigates
Russia’s arms exporter Rosoboronexport is in talks with India
to organize the production of Project 11356 frigates on the Indian territory,
Rosoboronexport Deputy CEO Sergei Goreslavsky said on Wednesday. "Today
we are in talks [with India] on the potential construction of Project
75I submarines on the basis of advanced Amur-1650 diesel-electric submarines,"
the deputy CEO said.

"We are also discussing the prospects of
delivering an additional batch of Project 11356 frigates [for India]
and the organization of their licensed production on the Indian territory,"
he added.
As Vice-President of the United Ship-Building Corporation for Warship
Construction Igor Ponomaryov said earlier, Russia is in talks with India
to sell three Project 11356 frigates earlier designed for the Russian
Black Sea Fleet.
The Defexpo India 2016 international exhibition will be held in Quitol
in the state of Goa in India on March 28-31.
During the exhibition, the Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport is
planning to hold talks with Indian partners to discuss joint projects
for the Indian Armed Forces’ further upgrade.
India already operates six Talwar-class frigates, which are the Project
11356 frigate’s predecessors developed for export. The vessels
entered service in 2003-2004 and 2012-2013.
