NAVDEX 2017: Proposals for UAE Navy Future Corvette Requirement
 
UAE Navy Abu Dhabi ASW Corvette During IDEX-NAVDEX, held from 19th to 23rd February in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, many shipyards were showcasing their proposals for the so called "Bani Yas" program of the UAE Navy. According to our information, the program calls for two (with an option for one more) corvettes to the existing UAE Navy fleet of front line surface combatant consisting of 6x Baynunah-class corvettes (the final one, Al Hili was commissioned during NAVDEX 2017), 2x Falaj-class stealth patrol vessels and 1x Abu Dhabi-class ASW corvette.
 

MSI Defence Systems Latest and Lightest Weapon Station: The Seahawk MWS
 
MSI Defence Seahawk Multi Weapon Station MWS 2 During IDEX-NAVDEX, held from 19th to 23rd February in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, British company MSI Defence Systems Ltd was showcasing the latest addition to its remote weapon systems range: The Seahawk Multi Weapon Station (MWS). It was specifically design by MSI Defence to be the most compact lightweight remote controlled naval gun system available. The MWS is ideal for small fast boats covering a range of operational missions from maritime interdiction to law enforcement patrols.
 

China's CSSC Unveiled the Type 730C Dual Gun and Missile CIWS
 
Type 730C Dual Gun and Missile CIWS 1 During IDEX-NAVDEX, held from 19th to 23rd February in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, Chinese company CSSC (China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd.) unveiled the Type 730C dual gun and missile close in weapon system (CIWS). It combines the existing Type 730 seven-barrelled 30 mm Gatling gun system (Chinese Navy designation: H/PJ12) with 6x FL-3000N (Flying Leopard 3000 Naval missile, Chinese Navy designation: AJK-10 or HQ-10).
 

IDEX 2017: New capabilities for Rheinmetall’s MASS ship protection system
 
ADSB Signing Lockheed Martin Rheinmetall continues to expand its family of Multi Ammunition Softkill System (MASS) ship protection systems. At IDEX 2017 the Düsseldorf, Germany-based specialist for security and mobility is showcasing two variants of this tried-and-tested decoy launcher system: the MASS_OCR with off-board corner reflector and the new standalone version MASS Stand Alone with Sensor Suite for smaller units.
