The submarine is intended for the Republic of Korea Navy (ROK Navy).

The U.S. State Department announced yesterday it green lighted an arms sale package worth US$1.42 billion to Taiwan. Part of the package includes systems for the Republic of China Navy (ROCN or Taiwan's Navy). According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, possible foreign military sales (FMS) of AN/SLQ-32(V)3 Electronic Warfare Systems, MK54 Lightweight Torpedoes and MK 48 Mod 6AT Heavyweight Torpedoes have been approved.

Germany approved the procurement of five additional Braunschweig-class (K130) Corvettes by 2023. This new procurement, worth about 1 Billion Euros is to answer new NATO requirements: NATO expects the German Navy (Marine) to provide a total of four corvettes at the highest readiness level for use in littoral operations from 2018. With the current five K130 class corvettes, the Marine can only provide two vessels.
