According to Saab, the "mine counter measure vessel 80" is a next generation MCM vessel featuring operational flexibility and adaptable configuration, designed to meet current and future challenges.

The Russian Ministry of Defense informed that the first domestic general purpose landing ship will be built in 2022, while a new high-speed military helicopter will have to make its first flight by 2025. The performance requirements for the helicopter have already been determined, and now the project details are being specified in conjunction with the Russian Helicopters Company. As early as 1980, Chiefs of the General Staff, led by Deputy Chief of the Navy Admiral Nikolai Amelko, appealed to the country's leadership for the construction of domestic helicopter carriers, the online newspaper Gazeta.ru writes.

Six new military patrol boats built by Louisiana, USA-based shipbuilder Metal Shark have been delivered to the Vietnam Coast Guard. The welded-aluminum Metal Shark 45-foot Defiant pilothouse patrol vessels were provided to Vietnam by the United States in a historic move that underscores the increased security cooperation between the two nations. The vessels were officially handed over by US Ambassador Ted Osius to the Vietnam Coast Guard on Monday in the province of Quang Nam.

Austal is pleased to advise that it has delivered Cape Inscription, the second Cape-class Patrol Boat for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). The Australian Defence Vessel (ADV) Cape Inscription is the tenth Cape-class designed and constructed by Austal. Cape Inscription joins Cape Fourcroy, which was delivered to the Navy in April 2017 and a further 8 Capes delivered to the Australian Border Force between 2013 and 2015.

The future USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) successfully completed acceptance trials conducted by the U.S. Navy's Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) in the Atlantic Ocean May 24-26 and is in final preparations for delivery. Acceptance trials are primarily aimed at demonstrating to INSURV the ability of the ship's crew to conduct operations at sea, and that the ship is constructed in accordance with contract specifications.

Austal Limited (Austal) is pleased to announce that the Independence variant Littoral Combat Ship 12 (LCS 12), the future USS Omaha, has successfully completed United States Navy (USN) acceptance trials. Omaha is the 6th Independence variant LCS to be designed and built by Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama under a current contract with the USN for 11 LCS vessels, valued at over US$3.5 billion.

Nexter, a KNDS (KMW+NEXTER Defense Systems) company, has signed a contract with the Albanian Navy to supply remotely operated 20mm NARWHAL® naval turrets. Albania has been a member of NATO since 2009 and will be the fourth country to equip its navy with NARWHAL® turrets, which already provide short-range self-defence to French and Egyptian FREMM frigates, French Mistral class vessels and Lebanese navy patrol boats. It will be also fitted to the French Navy's patrol boats (Guyanese PLG light patrol craft) and on the HORIZON class frigates.

Saudi Arabia Procures Four MMSC based on Lockheed Martin's Freedom LCS
On May 22nd, the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) took major steps to enhance global security and stimulate economic progress in the United States and the Middle East. KSA has expressed its intent to procure more than $28 billion worth of Lockheed Martin integrated air and missile defense, combat ship, tactical aircraft and rotary wing technologies and programs. The agreement includes four Multi-Mission Surface Combatant (MMSC) based on the Freedom-class LCS Lockheed Martin’s industry team is building for the U.S. Navy.
