Orbital ATK's AARGM Block 1 Software Upgrade Missile Scores Direct Hit in U.S. Navy Test
 
Orbital ATK, a global leader in aerospace and defense technologies, and the U.S. Navy successfully launched and scored a direct hit against an advanced enemy air defense radar system during a live fire test of the AGM-88E Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM) Block 1 Software Upgrade at China Lake Naval Air Warfare Center on Sept. 22, 2015.

U.S. Navy Issues Remaining Funding for future Littoral Combat Ship USS Cooperstown (LCS 23)
 
The U.S. Navy has issued a Lockheed Martin led industry team the balance of funding of $279 million for the construction of the future USS Cooperstown (LCS 23). The funding approved by Congress provides the financing required to maintain the cost and schedule of this critical national asset. Congress provided $79 million in advanced procurement funding for LCS 23 in March 2015.

Russia’s Sevmash Shipyard is to lay down the eighth Project 955 Borei (NATO reporting name: Dolgorukiy) nuclear ballistic missile submarine and fifth Project 885M Yasen-M (Severodvinsk) nuclear attack submarine in 2016, Sevmash Director General Mikhail Budnichenko told TASS on Monday.

French Navy Lafayette Class Frigate Surcouf in MM40 Block II Exocet Anti-Ship Missile Exercise
 
The French Navy announced its Lafayette class Frigate Surcouf (second ship of the class) launched an MBDA-made MM40 Block II Exocet anti-ship missile during a live fire test which took place on November 25 2015. The missile hit its target with high accuracy, showing the expertise of the French Navy to implement and maintain a complex weapons system for high-intensity conflict.

The Russian Navy Northern Fleet’s Project 971 M (NATO reporting name: Akula III) K-335 Gepard nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN) returned to the operating forces following its repair by the Nerpa Shipyard, the fleet’s spokesman, Capt. 1st Rank Vadim Serga, told TASS on Monday.

China Launched its 8th Type 052D Destroyer while the 4th Started Sea Trials with PLAN
 
Based on several pictures that have been released by Chinese spotters, it appears that the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) fourth Type 052D (NATO reporting name Luyang III class) destroyer started sea trials. In the meantime, another Type 052D was launched on November 28th. It is the 8th vessel in the class and the first one launched at the Dalian naval shipyard (Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company member of CSIC - China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation).

The Chinese Ministry of Nationa Defense announced that a new logistics support ship of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) began its service in Sansha City, south China's Hainan Province, on the morning of November 23, 2015. The supply ship (hull number GY820) is the largest of its kind in the PLA Army with a maximum displacement of 2,700 tons. The 90 meters long and 14.6 meters wide vessel will be based in the South China Sea region to support replenishment operations.

The second indigenously built stealth Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Corvette ‘INS Kadmatt’ built by M/s Garden Reach Shipyard (GRSE), Kolkata was formally handed over to the Indian Navy on November 26. The new vessel was delivered by Rear Admiral (Retd) AK Verma, VSM, chairman and managing director of GRSE.

RIFAN Step 2 system's function is to secure the services of voice and data information exchange among naval aviation forces guaranteeing the security level and quality of service required by users.

UK MoD awarded contract for the fifth Astute-class nuclear-powered submarine
 
The UK Ministry of Defence has awarded BAE Systems a contract for the delivery of the fifth Astute-class submarine. With the construction having started in 2010, this contract covers the design and remaining build, test and commissioning activities of the HMS Anson. The submarine construction is on schedule for sea trials in 2020.

ECA Group and French DGA Working on a Tethered UAV Project Similar to DARPA's TALONS
 
While attending Milipol 2015, the Worldwide Exhibition of Internal State Security, Navy Recognition learned that ECA Group and the French procurement agency (DGA) are working on a tethered UAV project named "virtual mast" (mature virtuelle in French). Based on the IT180-999 prototype, an electric and captive variant of the existing IT180 UAV, the project shares mane similarities with TALONS. TALONS is a joint research program between DARPA and the U.S. Navy’s Office of Naval Research.

Italian Navy Fired MBDA Aster 30 SAM From Orizzonte class Frigate in Missile Defence Exercise
 
The Italian Navy vessel, ITS Andrea Doria, fired an MBDA Aster 30 missile during a test at the Scottish Hebrides Firing Range. As part of the "At Sea Demonstration 2015" (ASD15) exercise, the Orrizonte-class frigate fired the missile while protecting a US vessel that was providing area air defence to the naval force.
