Austal’s Pacific Patrol Boat has commenced construction following the cutting of steel on the first vessel in Perth, Western Australia. The A$306 million Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement (SEA3036) Project is the first element of the Australian Government’s A$89 billion Continuous Naval Shipbuilding Program which will includes twelve Submarines (SEA1000), twelve Offshore Patrol Vessels (SEA1180) and nine Future Frigates (SEA5000) for the Royal Australian Navy.

Singapore's Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) announced today that it was procuring two more Type 218SG submarines during the IMDEX Asia 2017 exhibition in Singapore. The MINDEF has signed a contract with TKMS which includes a logistics package and a crew training arrangement in Germany as well.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the RSN hosted Singapore's inaugural International Maritime Review (IMR) on 15 May 2017. The IMR was an opportunity for the RSN to welcome its allies from around the world for its 50th anniversary celebrations.

President Tony Tan Keng Yam reviewed the inaugural Singapore International Review (IMR) at RSS Singapura - Changi Naval Base this morning. The IMR was attend by 46 warships and four aircraft, as well as more than 30 navy chiefs, vice navy chiefs and directors-general of coast guards, and more than 40 flag rank officers, from 44 participating nations.
