FTI Mid Size Frigate French Navy Marine Nationale naval gun 3 The FTI (Frégate de Taille Intermédiaire or mid-size frigate) was undoubtly the "star of the show" at Euronaval this year. A scale model representative of its design by unveiled by French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on October 18th. Five new generation FTI frigates are expected to supplement eight FREMM frigates and two Horizon air defense destroyers by 2030 for a total of fifteen "first rank" surface combatants. While the model unveiled on the French MoD booth shows several specific systems fitted aboard, Navy Recognition learned that this model is not yet representative of the final configuration yet...

The French company Libervit showcases its underwater hydraulic cutter solutions at Euronaval 2016 LIBERVIT, based in southern France, has over 20 years of experience studying, creating and developing hydraulic and mechanical tools for law enforcement, army and other civil or private rescue teams. Working closely with prestigious units such as RAID, GIGN or French Navy commandos, LIBERVIT identified a need and developped and launched a maritime range. As part of this new maritime range is the first hydraulic cutter and spreader in the world that may be used in deep water for the specific cutting and spreading needs of special forces or rescue operations.

The American SeaTrepid showcases its new Ocean Infinity multiple autonomous vehicle program Ocean Infinity has developed a multiple autonomous vehicle program which has been designed to conduct wide area high-resolution surveys in shallow to ultra-deep waters. The flotilla, made up of six AUV and six USVs, has the ability to be deployed from a single HSV to perform different mapping and exploration operations subsea. Developed with a modular design for rapid response, two complete AUV systems can be sent anywhere in order to commence emergency operations while the HSV is in transit to the emergency location.

Vigy Observer is a light, panoramic, multi-sensor shipboard optronic system. It is operated from a touch terminal and includes a cooled infrared imager, video channels and a laser rangefinder.
