UAE's Baynunah Muti-Mission Corvette successfully completes testing program

The first of six multi-mission corvettes ordered by the UAE has successfully completed all of its testing program. Designed and assembled by CMN Cherbourg the Baynunah left the Atlantic French Shipyard to reach the Persian Gulf. The vessel will then undergo a further testing period of four months to test its weapon systems and sensors, prior to its acceptance by the UAE Navy and its commissioning.

The leadship was built in France by CMN shipyard while the 5 remaining ships of the class are to be built locally by Abu Dhabi Ship Building. The first locally built unit is at the stage of platform testing and combat system integration. While the third corvette of the class is already afloat, it is not impossible that one or more vessels of the class constructed in Abu Dhabi were finally completed at CMN Cherbourg.
