BAE Systems recently received a contract award for more than $20 million to supply two 57mm Mk 110 MOD 0 guns and engineering support to the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. The naval gun systems will be delivered to the fifth National Security Cutter for the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy’s training facility in Dam Neck, Virginia where sailors will benefit from Mk 110 operations and maintenance training.

We are proud to equip the sailors that defend our country’s coastline with the best in naval gun technology,” said Mark Signorelli, vice president and general manager of Weapon Systems for BAE Systems. “The versatility of the Mk 110 provides our armed services with the ability to take on today’s expanding range of surface, airborne, and shore-based threats.

The two Mk 110 gun systems are scheduled for delivery by December 2014 and include additional engineering support options over the next three years. Work will be performed in Louisville, Kentucky; Minneapolis, Minnesota and Karlskoga, Sweden.

To date, BAE Systems has produced 19 Mk 110 guns for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.
