DCNS Opens Subsidiary in Singapore to Better Serve South East Asia Market

Set up in the heart of the Strait of Malacca, in an environment with a strong maritime traffic component, Singapore-based "DCNS Far East" is a wholly owned subsidiary of the DCNS group. It is one of the international outposts for the activities of the Services department, and illustrates the Group’s development on different international markets by developing local skills and capacities in a region with strong potential.

DCNS Far East, mainly composed of locally recruited employees from 6 different nationalities, has steadily developed its service activities. Today, these mainly consist in the provision of through life support services for Singaporean and Taiwanese frigates, underwater inspection by ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) services, installation and maintenance of floating security barriers, and Group support for the maintenance of the French Navy’s surveillance frigates based in the Pacific. The development of DCNS Far East is apparent in its various fields of activities, and the subsidiary’s turnover has doubled in five years.

For the Singapore Navy, in January 2016 DCNS Far East signed a contract to supply the spare parts kits required for major maintenance of the six Delta frigates.

DCNS Far East has enriched its services offering, carrying out in 2012 the installation of a floating security barrier in the Singapore naval base. This barrier is designed to secure the military buildings from possible attack by sea. Since then, the subsidiary has been in charge of the barrier’s maintenance and operation.

The company’s development is also explained by the deployment of new activities for civilian customers, and underwater inspection by ROV in particular. These submarine robots can perform the underwater inspection of structures in such diverse fields as oil & gas, port infrastructure, ships, etc. Since 2013, DCNS Far East has already completed some 30 underwater inspection projects, both in Singapore and across Asia.

All these developments have helped DCNS Far East to increase its local skills at the service of the DCNS group.
