Russian Navy Krivak IV Frigates (Project 11356) to be fitted with 3M-54E Klub-N (SS-N-27 Sizzler)

Cassidian Optronics modernizes sighting systems of Colombian Navy submarines
 
Cassidian Optronics improves the mission effectiveness of the 209 class submarines of the Colombian Navy by installing state-of-the-art sighting systems. After the already ordered refurbishment of an attack periscope, the Colombian Navy has now ordered a SERO 250 search periscope from Cassidian Optronics for a 209 Class submarine. Cassidian Optronics is the well-known producer of optronic mast systems and periscopes for submarines, formerly known as Carl Zeiss Optronics.

The Russian Navy will receive 24 submarines and 54 warships of various classes by 2020, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Monday. “As a result of the implementation of the state rearmament program to 2020, the navy should receive eight nuclear-powered strategic submarines, 16 multirole submarines and 54 warships of various classes,” Shoigu said at a Defense Ministry meeting .

Development of the new Joint Strike Missile (JSM, the air launched variant of the NSM - Naval Strike Missile) is progressing, and 27 February an important milestone was passed when the aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin for the first time fitted one of the missiles to a F-35 at its facility in Ft Worth, Texas.
The U.S. Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) a contract valued at more than $71 million to produce six additional next-generation Fire Scout unmanned helicopters. The Fire Scout endurance upgrade, designated the MQ-8C and based on Bell Helicopter's 407, will provide ship commanders with increased range, endurance and payload capacity over the current MQ-8B variant.

APA is the second of three Amazonas Class Ocean Patrol Vessels being delivered to the Brazilian Navy by BAE Systems. Her sister ship, AMAZONAS, completed the crossing last year, while the final ship, ARAGUARI, will be handed over in June.
