Aft island of HMS Queen Elizabeth installed on the Aircraft Carrier
 
THE AFT island of HMS Queen Elizabeth was lowered into place by Aircraft Carrier Alliance workers in a historic ceremony today (June 28). At the sound of airhorns operated by apprentices Gordon Currie (19) and Chris McArthur (22), teams operating the Goliath crane lowered the iconic section, known as Upper Block 14, the final few feet into place.

Northrop Grumman Awarded U.S. Navy Contract for LCS Mission Package Integration
 
Northrop Grumman Corporation has received a $28 million contract from the U.S. Navy for engineering and production planning services for surface warfare and mine countermeasures mission module components that will deploy from, and integrate with, the littoral combat ship (LCS). With this award, Northrop Grumman continues its role as the mission package integrator with expanding roles in systems engineering, mission module production and mission package fleet sustainment, including distance support for the currently deployed USS Freedom (LCS 1).

Multiple batches of ship-borne J-15 fighters conducted take-off and landing training on China’s first aircraft carrier “Liaoning Ship”, which was first launched for scientific research experiments and training this year, on June 19, 2013 in a sea area of the Bohai Sea. This is another take-off and landing training by ship-borne J-15 fighters on the “Liaoning Ship” after the J-15 fighters successfully landed on and took off from the deck of the aircraft carrier for the first time in November 2012.

Employees joined guests from the Brazilian Navy and UK Royal Navy, to watch as members of the ship’s company raised the ensign for the first time, formally marking the handover of the Brazilian Navy’s newest vessel.

Paris Air Show, 17th June 2013 – Romanian helicopter manufacturer IAR Brasov has chosen Thales to supply TMS 2000 sonobuoy processors to equip IAR-330 Puma helicopters operated by the Romanian Navy. The processors will give the Romanian Navy a decisive anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capability to detect submarines in the Black Sea, in particular as part of NATO missions.
