Royal Australian Navy MH-60R 'Romeo' helicopter fires AGM-114 Hellfire missile for the 1st time
 
The Royal Australian Navy’s newest maritime combat helicopter, the MH-60R Seahawk ‘Romeo’, has successfully fired its first ‘Hellfire’ missile in the United States. The AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-surface missile was fired by Navy’s 725 Squadron from aircraft currently deployed to the United States Navy’s Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Centre off the Florida coast.

Russia’s Sevmash shipyard lays down 5th Borey class SSBN and 4th Yasen class SSN
 
Russia’s Sevmash Shipyard announced it has laid down "Knyaz Oleg", the fifth Borey class SSBN project (and the first series submarine of the modernised 955A project) and the fourth multi-purpose attack submarine "Krasnoyarsk" (Yasen class). According to the shipyard, Russia’s second Borey class SSBN "Vladimir Monomakh" (Project 955) will join the Russian Navy before the end of the year.

Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Forces to get 2 more Aegis Destroyers
 
According to Japanese newspaper The Yomiuri Shimbun, the Japanese government will start building two Aegis-equipped destroyers with the latest missile defense systems starting next fiscal year, in light of the progress seen in missile development by North Koreathe. The two new vessel will join an exisiting fleet of 6 Aegis vessels in the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Forces (JMSDF): 4 Kongo class Destroyers and 2 Atago class Destroyers.

BMT Nigel Gee (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group, is pleased to announce its latest partnership with Ares Shipyard (Ares) to design and build seventeen patrol boats from advanced composites, for the Qatar Coastguard. This order comprises three different vessel sizes: five of 23 metres capable of speed in excess of 37 knots, 10 of 33 metres capable of achieving 30 knots and two of 46 metres also capable of 30 knots.

SPEAR is MBDA’s response to a component of the UK’s Selective Precision Effects At Range air launched requirement. The weapon will maximise the potential of the UK’s future combat air capability, matching the weapon to the aircraft: “a 5th generation weapon for a 5th generation fast jet”.

Indian Government approves extra purchase of 32 Dhruv helicopters for Navy & Coast Guard
 
The Indian Government yesterday approved INR 7000 crore ($1.1 billion) valued contract for procurement of 32 new HAL Dhruvs for Indian Navy and Coast Guard. The first ALH (Dhruv) Squadron was commissioned in the Indian Navy in November 2013. Dhruv is the first indigenously designed and manufactured helicopter at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and with its multi role capabilities has proven her mettle in all the three services of the Armed Forces, Indian Coast Guard, BSF and in the inventory of foreign countries.

Mexican Navy takes delivery of first of four Beechcraft King Air 350ER aircraft

Royal New Zealand Navy seeking new tanker to support Pacific Defense Operations

The new vessel would replace the navy's current tanker, HMNZS Endeavour, which would reach the end of its service life in 2018 and would fail to comply with new international maritime regulations, Coleman said in a statement.
