At NAVDEX 2015 Portuguese Company OceanScan Showcased its LAUV Underwater Vehicle
 
At NAVDEX 2015, OceanScan – Marine Systems & Technology Lda of Portugal showcased its LAUV. The LAUV is a Lightweight (one-man-portable) Autonomous Underwater Vehicle designed to be affordable as it requires only limited logistics. Based on a modular design, the platform is built to be robust and reliable.

Oto Melara Showcased its Full Range of Light Naval Weapon Systems at NAVDEX 2015
 
At NAVDEX 2015, the naval defense exhibition which was taking place in the UAE last week, Italian company Oto Melara and its local partner Siham Al Khaleej Technology (SAKT) showcased their full range of light weight remote wapon systems for naval applications: The MARLIN WS 30mm, the HITROLE N 12.7mm, the HITROLE 20mm and the HITROLE G 12.7mm on an Al Fattan Fast Attack Craft.

Navy Recognition learned that the US defense company is actively marketing its innovating mine detection system to counties in the Gulf region because of emmerging needs in mine warfare capabilities.

Etihad Ship Building will produce additional Falaj 2 class Stealth Patrol Vessels in the UAE
 
At NAVDEX 2015 naval defense exhibition which was taking place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, last week, Navy Recognition learned from Fincantieri representatives that the Italian shipbuilding company is currently helping to extend the Al Fattan shipyard in Abu Dhabi as part of Etihad Ship Building. The goal is to allow Etihad Ship Building to fullfil the Falaj 2 "Batch 2" order for the UAE Navy. This new batch would consist in at least two additional Stealth Patrol Vessels (and up to 4 according to a source).

At NAVDEX 2015 Navantia unveiled its F-538 Frigate Design for the Peruvian Navy
 
At IDEX 2015, Navy Recognition learned that Nexter Systems and DCNS teams are currently working together in order to interface the Narwhal 20B with the DCNS made FREMM Frigates. Following this work the Narwhal guns will be able to exchange data with the Combat Management System (CMS). More specifically, it will be connected to the fire control system and surveillance radar (Thales Herakles) of the frigates which will allow greater flexibility and shorter reaction time when dealing with threats.
At NAVDEX 2015 naval defense exhibition which was taking place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, last week, Navantia unveiled the F-538 frigate design it is proposing for the Peruvian Navy. Navantia representatives at NAVDEX 2015 told Navy Recognition that this new Frigate design is based on the proven AVANTE 3000/2400 design. This new design incorporates lessons learned in building the Spanish F-100, Norwegian F-310 and Australian AWS destroyers.

Selex ES signed infrared seeker contract for MBDA's FASGW (H)/ANL anti-ship missile system
 
During the IDEX 2015 Exhibition taking place in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) from 22-26 February, Finmeccanica – Selex ES announced the signing of a contract with MBDA France and SAGEM which will see the company participate in the development and production of a new infrared seeker for FASGW(H)/ANL, the next generation helicopter-launched anti-ship missile. FASGW(H)/ANL is being developed jointly by the UK and French governments for a range of future helicopter platforms.

While visiting the Cyclone class Coastal Patrol Boat USS Monsonn at NAVDEX 2015, Navy Recognition noticed the vessel was fitted with a new weapon system: The Raytheon made Griffin Missile System (MK-60 Patrol Coastal Griffin Missile System as called in the U.S. Navy). Navy Recognition's chief editor met with the Captain to learn more about the new capabilties this freshly installed weapon system brings to the Cyclone class.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Khaled Al Mazrouei, CEO of ADSB, and Patrice Caine, CEO of Thales group.

Rheinmetall Unveils the new Off-Board Corner Reflector upgrade for MASS At IDEX 2015
 
At IDEX 2015 exhibition in Abu Dhabi, German company Rheinmetall unveiled a new upgrade for its MASS decoy system: The off-board corner reflector (OCR) with advanced capabilities against modern anti-ship missiles. Two OCR launcher tubes can be fitted on-top of a MASS unit. They deploy radar decoys that simulate the vessel's radar signature. The decoys are manufactured by Airborne Systems.
