The U.S. Navy plans to install and test a prototype electromagnetic railgun aboard a joint high speed vessel in fiscal year 2016, the service announced today. The company's patrol frigate consists in several militarized version of the NSC with increased lethality and upgraded combat systems but retaining the same hull form.

Huntington Ingalls Industries showcases its Ballistic Missile Defense ship based on LPD 17 class
 
At the Sea-Air-Space 2014 Exposition, Huntington Ingalls Industries has on display its Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) concept ship. Based on the "Flight II" variant of the San Antonio LPD class, the BMD ship is Ingalls Industries vision of a surface platform dedicated to BMD missions. A single BMD ship could replace and accomplish ballistic missile defense missions of several Burke class destroyers allowing them to conduct their "traditional" missions.

Boeing Showcases Phantom Badger at Sea-Air-Space & announces certification for V-22 Transport
 
After a series of successful tests, the U.S. Navy last month certified that the Boeing Phantom Badger combat support vehicle can be transported inside a V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft. That is another step toward providing warfighters with more options to deploy the versatile vehicle. Phantom Badger is part of the Bell Boeing V-22 display at the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space Exposition currently held in National Harbor, Md.

At the Sea-Air-Space 2014 Exposition, Norwegian company Kongsberg is presenting scale models of both types of Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) fitted with unique ASUW configurations. The conceptual Freedom class LCS is fitted with 12x NSMs and the conceptual Independence class LCS is fitted with 18x NSMs.

iXBlue to showcase its inertial navigation systems selected for the Royal Navy Aircraft Carriers
 
iXBlue has been selected to provide inertial navigation systems for the two Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers currently being built by the Aircraft Carrier Alliance for the UK Royal Navy. The bridge system for each of the carriers will incorporate two iXBlue MARINS units. Trials have already been conducted to optimise the configuration of the units to meet the specific operational requirements of the vessels.
