Lockheed Martin has delivered the 24th, and final, MH-60R SEAHAWK® helicopter to the U.S. Navy in support of the Navy’s Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). The milestone delivery took place during a July 27 ceremony at Lockheed Martin’s Owego, New York facility.

Leidos completes initial performance tests of highly autonomous Unmanned Surface Vessel
 
Leidos, a U.S. security, health, and infrastructure solutions company, announced on July 25, that on June 22, it completed initial performance trials of the technology demonstration vessel it is developing for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)'s Anti-Submarine Warfare Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel (ACTUV) program. The at-sea tests took place off the coast of San Diego, California.

Vympel Shipyard in central Russia launched the second Project 21980 anti-sabotage boat
 
The Vympel Shipyard in Rybinsk in central Russia has floated out the second Project 21980 Grachonok anti-sabotage boat, the shipyard’s press office said. "A solemn ceremony of floating out the Project 21980 boat (factory number No. 01222) took place at the shipyard. This is the second out of four anti-sabotage boats the Vympel Shipyard is currently building under a contract signed with the Defense Ministry," the press office said.

Hellenic Navy, Lockheed Martin & HAI Launch P-3B Orion Modernization and Upgrade Program
 
TThe Hellenic Navy, Lockheed Martin and Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) hosted a ceremony today at HAI's facilities here to recognize the official launch of the Hellenic Navy P-3B maritime patrol aircraft modernization and upgrade program. On July 13, the first of two Hellenic Navy P-3B Orions were successfully transferred from Elefsis Air Base to HAI's facilities at Tanagra, Greece, north of Athens. Attending today's ceremony were leaders representing the Hellenic Defense Ministry, the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, the Hellenic Navy, the Hellenic Air Force, the GDDIA, the US Embassy in Greece, Lockheed Martin and HAI, as well as local authorities.

Newly Built PLAN Type 052D Destroyers Getting Fitted with Larger H/PJ-11 CIWS
 
Based on pictures that have just been released by Chinese spotters, it appears that the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) next in-line Type 052D Destroyers (NATO reporting name Luyang III class) will be fitted with the H/PJ-11 close-in weapon system (CIWS) instead of the smaller H/PJ-12 currently fitted on existing vessels of the class.

Latest AEGIS Combat System Interoperability Tested Between DDG 51 and Spanish Navy Frigate
 
The U.S. Navy conducted a series of cooperative air defense test exercises with the Spanish Navy that culminated in live missile firing events using the latest Aegis Weapon System, July 20-21. This event was not only the first interoperability test of the latest Aegis Baseline 9.C1 with a foreign ship, but also the first combined Combat Systems Ship Qualification Trial with that country's navy since 2007. The destroyer USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) and the Spanish frigate Cristobol Colón (F 105) participated in the testing.

This summer, U.S. Navy EA-18G Growlers joined B-1 bombers in the skies around Ellsworth Air Force Base for electronic attack training in June, and now again July 11 through 22, 2016. This marked the first time the Navy’s Electronic Attack Squadron 129, stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington, traveled to Ellsworth to conduct training in its local airspace.

French President Francois Hollande gave a "fall" time frame, the Defense minister Jean-Yves Le Drian later said the deployment would take place in October. This will be the third time in two years that the flagship of the French Navy is deployed to the Persian Gulf as part of operation "Chammal".
