The People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) commissioned today its 23rd Type 054A Frigate (Jiangkai II-class) "Binzhou" (hull number 515) and an additional Type 082II (Wozang-class) mine countermeasure vessel "Donggang" (hull number 814). The Type 054A Frigate commissioning ceremony took place at Zhoushan naval base. The frigate joins the PLAN East Sea Fleet. The MCM vessel joins the PLAN North Sea Fleet. Its commissioning ceremony took place at Dalian naval base (in Northeast China).

The future USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115) successfully completed acceptance trials Dec. 16 after spending two days underway off the coast of Maine. The U.S. Navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) reviewed the ship and its crew during a series of demonstrations while underway. INSURV evaluates the ship’s construction and compliance with Navy specifications and is the governing body that recommends the ship be delivered to the Navy.

A commissioning, naming and flag-presenting ceremony of the new Ningde (hull number 510) Type 056 Corvette (Jiangdao class) of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) was held solemnly today at the Xiamen Naval Base (a port city on China’s southeast coast, across a strait from Taiwan). The event means the vessel is officially commissioned to the PLAN. Ningde is the thirtieth Type 056 Corvette delivered to the PLAN fleet.

The Pella Shipyard in St. Petersburg laid the keel of the fourth small missile boat of project 22800 (Karakurt-class). The vessel will be named Burya. "It is difficult to underestimate the importance of the warship for the Navy. The small boat construction experience is inherited from the Soviet Union which provided the best price-efficiency ratio for such warships," Navy Chief-of-Staff Vice Admiral Andrei Volozhinsky said at the ceremony.

The Liaoning aircraft carrier, escorted by five vessels sailed 90 nautical miles from the southern tip of Taiwan via the Bashi Strait that separates Taiwan from the Philippines.

AgustaWestland (Leonardo Helicopters) delivered the last batch of four AW159 Wildcat maritime helicopters to the Republic of Korean Navy (ROK Navy) in late November.
