Indonesian Army (TNI AD) unveils its new "KMC Komando" Fast Assault Craft
 
On April 29th 2014, the Indonesian Army unveiled a new model of Fast Assault Craft known as the Kapal Motor Cepat (KMC) Komando, manufactured by local shipbuilder PT Tesco Indomaritimin in collaboration with a group of technicians and experts from local universities. The KMC Komando shares several design attributes with Swedish built CB90-class fast assault craft.

Raytheon tests new passive seeker for Tomahawk Block IV cruise missile
 
Raytheon Company successfully completed a passive seeker test designed for a Tomahawk Block IV cruise missile using company-funded independent research and development investment. The captive flight test, using a modified Tomahawk Block IV missile nose cone, demonstrated that Raytheon's advanced, next-generation; multi-function processor can enable the cruise missile to navigate to and track moving targets emitting radio frequency signals.

Thales finalises delivery of MELTEM II CASA CN-235 maritime patrol aircraft to Turkey
 
Thales announces the delivery of the final standard for the maritime patrol aircraft to Turkey as part of the MELTEM II programme, for which Thales is the prime contractor. To this day, five of the six aircraft have been delivered to this standard, with the sixth set for delivery before the summer. This follows the three maritime surveillance aircraft which were sent to the Turkish coastguards last year.

Russian shipyard lays keel of new class Replenishment Oiler "Academician Pashin” (project 23130)
 
On April 26th, 2014, a keel-laying ceremony in presence of Admiral Viktor Viktorovich Chirkov (Russian Navy's Commander-in-Chief) took place at Nevsky Shipyard for a new generation of Replenishment Oiler for the Russian Navy. Described by the shipyard as "Medium-sized sea tanker Academician Pashin” (Project 23130) the vessel is the first tanker to be built for the Russian Navy since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

U.S. Navy, Raytheon and Boeing started flight testing Advanced Airborne Sensor on P-8A Poseidon
 
A U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft was recently spotted at the Boeing headquarter's in Seattle conducting tests (including flight tests) with Raytheon's Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) fitted under the aircraft. Based on the existing AN/APS-149 Littoral Surveillance Radar System (LSRS), the AAS is designed to detect moving targets both on the surface of water and on land.

The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) awarded Lockheed Martin a contract option worth approximately $10 million to support the Navy’s intermediate-level maintenance activities for all MK-48 torpedoes. This is the first option exercised from a contract awarded in 2013 and brings the total contract value to more than $18 million.

The U.S. Navy christened the USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) April 12, during a ceremony at General Dynamics-Bath Iron Works shipyard in Bath, Maine. The lead ship and class are named in honor of former Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Admiral Elmo R. "Bud" Zumwalt Jr., who served as the 19th CNO from 1970-1974.

Final assembly of the aircraft will take place at the company's Unmanned Systems Center in Moss Point, Miss. The MQ-8C is based on a larger helicopter airframe that provides greater range, endurance and payload capacity over the currently fielded MQ-8B Fire Scout variant.

On 8th April 2014, the French DGA (Direction Générale de l'Armement) successfully carried out the second qualification firing of the naval cruise missile (MdCN or Missile de Croisière Naval) currently under development by MBDA. The firing, which took place at the DGA’s Biscarrosse missile test centre (situated in the department of Landes in South West France) , was representative of a firing from a frigate and demonstrated the missile’s flight capabilities at high altitude.
