Qatar Armed Forces Selected Thales SEARCHMASTER radar during DIMDEX 2016
 
At this year’s DIMDEX exhibition, the Qatar Armed Forces have announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the selection of the Thales SEARCHMASTER® multirole surveillance radar. The radar will equip their Optionally Piloted Vehicles - Aircraft (OPV-A) and respond to their land and naval surveillance requirements.

The largest edition of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2016) successfully came to a close at the Qatar National Convention Centre on Thursday with with eight new deals announced on the final day, bringing the total value of deals signed at DIMDEX 2016 to QAR 32.58 billion.
At the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2016) French naval shipbuilder DCNS showcased its range of surface combatants: Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), Corvette and Frigate types of vessels.

Austal’s Starts Construction On Two Cape Class Patrol Boats For The Royal Australian Navy
 
As Austal awaits news from Australia’s Department of Defence on the outcome of the 21 vessel, AU$1.3billion Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement (PPB-R) tender process, the company has commenced construction of two (2) Cape-class Patrol Boats – to be delivered to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in mid CY2017.
