Chinese company Poly Technologies presented several new naval equipment products available for the export market at the DSA 2012 Defense exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Poly Technologies, a subsidiary of China Poly Group Corporation, is a defense manufacturing and international trading company. In their new Naval Equipment catalogue, they introduced several new vessel designs.

The US Navy has launched mid-April an official RFI for the F/A-XX carrier-based strike fighter. The F/A-XX is intended to replace both F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter and EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft currently in service in the US Navy by the years 2030ies.

On Wednesday 11 April, in Harlingen the third of four Holland Class Oceangoing Patrol Vessels, “Friesland” built by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding for the Royal Netherlands Navy, was transferred to the Defence Materiel Organization of the Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands.

The Indian Navy officially commissionned Russia’s K-152 Nerpa nuclear-powered attack submarine on Wednesday. On April 4, 2012, the Forbin Air Defense Destroyer destroyed a supersonic target simulating an antiship missile at very low altitude. The target, a GQM 163A Coyote, was launched from the French Military's Missile Test Center based on the island of Levant (French Riviera). The Forbin, head of Horizon class AAW Destroyer, intercepted the target in flight with its Aster 30 missile while Chevalier Paul, second ship of Horizon class, was tracking both the target and the missiles launched by Forbin.

Elbit Systems has launched an Integrated Maritime Awareness Concept and Solution (IMACS) suit, developed to answer the unique defense requirements of maritime infrastructure facilities, such as oil and gas rigs.
Strategically important, these facilities call for a unique protection concept due to the potential threats posed by pirate and terror attacks.

As part of the rise to power of the carrier battle group, 29 March 2012, the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle conducted a test firing of Aster 15 missile while underway in the Mediterranean.

Nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) Verkhoturye on March 24 was withdrawn from covered slipway of JSC Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center. A solemn ceremony of bringing of strategic nuclear submarine took place at the shipyard for the occasion.

On March 29th 2012, DCNS delivered the fourth-of-class fast patrol boat (FPB) P964-Glimt to the Royal Norwegian Navy. The six-boat Skjold program is led by a consortium comprising DCNS and two Norwegian contractors with DCNS acting as the combat system design authority and co-supplier.
