BMT Launched Venator-110 Multi-Mission Reconfigurable Warship & the Vidar 7 Small Modern SSK
 
BMT Defence Services (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group, launched two innovative, new platform design concepts at DSEI 2013. Both the BMT Venator®-110 Multi-Mission Reconfigurable Warship and the Vidar®-7 Small Modern SSK Submarine have been developed to deliver maximum capability, flexibility and longevity within the limitations of current fiscal constraints.

CTruk unveiled its THOR multi-role force protection craft during DSEI 2013
 
First time exhibitor, CTruk, is launching its new Twin Hulled Offshore Raider (THOR) at DSEI in London from 10-13 September 2013. In addition to CTruk’s stand presence (S8-298), THOR is taking part in the twice-daily waterborne displays adjacent to the ExCel venue and seats are available on board for journalists who wish to experience THOR’s capabilities as a fast and stable force protection craft.
First time exhibitor, CTruk, launched its new Twin Hulled Offshore Raider (THOR) at DSEI in London from 10-13 September 2013. Navy Recognition took the opportunity to get onboard the vessel and ask a few questions to Matthew Lane, Amphibious Operations Specialist at CTruk, regarding this new project.
 

Kongsberg showcased its NSM and JSM anti-ship cruise missiles at DSEI 2013
 
Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence Systems showcased its Naval Strike Missile (NSM) and Joint Strike Missile (JSM) during DSEI 2013, the International Defence & Security event in London, United Kingdom. The NSM is a flexible system which can be launched from a variety of platforms against a variety of targets. Based on the NSM, the JSM was designed specifically for the F-35, to be carried externally and internally in the weapons bay.

STIDD Systems introduced the DPD Capsule: A Towable Cargo Trailer for Combat Divers
 
American company STIDD Systems introduced the new DPD Capsule during DSEI 2013, the International Defence & Security event in London, United Kingdom. The DPD Capsule is a low-drag, cargo trailer that combat divers can tow underwater during their missions using the existing STIDD Diver Propulsion Device (DPD) already in use with several naval special forces units around the world.

MBDA adds Brimstone Anti-FIAC Capability to CWSP Naval Warfare Solution
 
In recognition of the growing complexity of operations in the littoral, MBDA is now offering CWSP with an additional capability, namely that provided by Brimstone to counter agile high speed craft operating in potentially large numbers often in well co-ordinated formations. These Fast Inshore Attack Craft (FIAC), when operating together, can overwhelm the defences of well armed naval craft equipped with medium calibre gun systems.

Atlas Elektronik UK launched the new ARCIMS platform during DSEI 2013
 
During DSEI 2013, ATLAS ELEKTRONIK UK Launched its new ARCIMS platform (ATLAS Remote Combined Influence Minesweeping System). The ARCIMS system is the next generation unmanned Mine Counter Measures (MCM) solution to help meet military requirements. ATLAS ELEKTRONIK UK was able to bring to bear its decades of experi- ence in MCM capability with the work we have done with UK MOD and the Royal Navy and develop the system which is highly configurable by the user.

DAMEN Schelde Naval Shipbuilding introduced the new "Compact SIGMA" line during DSEI 2013, the International Defence & Security event in London, United Kingdom. Undoubtedly, one of the major advantages of the Compact SIGMA Series is that all of the good things from a large ship have been recreated in a smaller version, with ship sizes ranging from 600 tonnes to 1500 tonnes displacement and a length over all from 59 m to 87 m.

MBDA & Lockheed Martin co-operation achieves first missile launch from a MK 41 VLS launcher

BAE Systems shows updated Type 26 design at DSEI 2013 Defence Exhibition
 
BAE Systems is showcasing a scale model of its Type 26 Global Combat Ship Frigate at DSEI 2013, the International Defence & Security event in London, United Kingdom. While the general lines of the Frigate stay similar to the one first shown at Euronaval last year, the scale model on display at DSEI 2013 features a few noticeable design changes. Navy Recognition had the opportunity to ask a few questions to Geoff Searle, Type 26 GCS Programme Manager, on the BAE Systems stand during DSEI 2013.

MBDA receives £250M Sea Ceptor production order for the Royal Navy
 
On the 9th September 2013, MBDA received a £250M production contract from the UKMinistry of Defence (MOD) for the delivery of the Sea Ceptor air defence weapon system that comprises of the Common Anti-air Modular Missile (CAMM) and system equipment. Sea Ceptor will initially equip the Royal Navy’s (RN) Type 23 frigates from 2016 onwards replacing Seawolf and then be integrated into the Type 26 frigates as the primary air defence system.

Supacat Multi-purpose Vessel 24 unveiled at DSEI 2013

Launched to the wider marine and renewable energy sectors in July, the SMV24 is a new concept in support vessel design, which also has the potential to perform a range of defence and security related roles. Its flexibility, high speed and high payload have already attracted interest from potential operators in the sector.

BMT Partners with Ares Shipyard to Deliver Patrol Boats for Bahrain Coast Guard
 
BMT Nigel Gee (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group, has announced its latest partnership with Ares Shipyard to design and build six 18m patrol boats from advanced composites, for the Bahrain Coast Guard which have a maximum design speed in excess of 35 knots. The contract also has an option for an additional six vessels.

Kelvin Hughes unveis New SharpEye Upmast Radar with carbon composite housing at DSEI 2013
 
DCNS has signed a contract with BAE Systems to supply four high-efficiency heat exchangers for boats 6 and 7 of the Royal Navy’s Astute-class nuclear-powered attack submarine programme.
Kelvin Hughes announces the launch of the world’s first carbon composite housing for upmast navigation and situational awareness radar. The new housing has been designed for the SharpEye™ radar system which itself represents a technological ‘first’ from Kelvin Hughes. A significant advance on current marine navigation radar technology, SharpEye™ is a solid state system that removes the need for a magnetron.

Speed boat entrapment device is bad news for pirates
