French Navy Test Launched a MU90 Torpedo from its ATL2 Maritime Patrol Aircraft
 
The French Navy released a picture showing one of its ATL2 (Breguet/Dassault Atlantique 2) Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) launching a MU90 torpedo. The MPA belongs to the Flotille 21F based in Lann-Bihoué (Britanny) and the trial was conducted at the French procurement agency (DGA) maritime test field in the Mediterranean Sea. The first even MU90 torpedo launch from an ATL2 took place in April 2011.

Joint Logistic Support Ship Karel Doorman Commissioned Into Royal Netherlands Navy
 
The Joint Logistic Support Ship (JSS) Karel Doorman was officially put into service in the Royal Netherlands Navy on 29 April. The largest ship of the Dutch navy is now called His Majesty (Zr. Ms.) Karel Doorman. "The Karel Doorman is impressive in size, but also because of the number of functionalities. This ship is literally a multi-tool, "said Commander of Naval Forces lieutenant-general Rob Verkerk at commissioning.

Russian Navy Pacific Fleet Received and Tested Its First "BAL" Coastal Missile System
 
The Russian Navy just announced that the Pacific Fleet (PF) Coastal Troops’ formation held the first launch from the new missile system ‘Bal’, which came into the brigade’service at the end of last year. The Coastal Troop Division, having made a 200-kilometer march from its home station, deployed on the move on an unequipped position and conducted a missile launch against waterborne target.

Fincantieri Delivered the fourth FREMM Frigate “Carabiniere” to the Italian Navy
 
The frigate “Carabiniere” was delivered today at the Muggiano (La Spezia) shipyard. It is the fourth vessel of the FREMM program – Multi Mission European Frigates - commissioned to Fincantieri within the international Italian-French program, coordinated by OCCAR (the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation). Orizzonte Sistemi Navali (51% Fincantieri and 49% Finmeccanica) is the prime contractor for Italy in the FREMM program, which envisions the building of 10 units, all already ordered.

Fourth Project 636.3 Varshavyanka class SSK Launched by Russia's JSC "Admiralty Shipyards"
 
"Krasnodar" (B-265), the fourth Project 636.3 (or Varshavyanka class) diesel-electric submarine (SSK) was launched by Russian shipyard JSC "Admirality Shipyards" in St. Petersburg on April 25, 2015. The submarine was laid down in February last year and should be commissioned into the Russian Navy Black Sea Fleet this year.

The diesel-and electric-powered icebreaker is being built for the Northern Fleet to provide support for coastal and island bases and airfields in the Arctic and to escort vessels through ice up to 80 cm thick. It is to be commissioned in 2017.

French SSBN Le Triomphant returns to its operational base in Brittany after maintenance program
After 20 months of maintenance and upgrading in dock no. 8 at the Brest naval base, the nuclear ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) Le Triomphant was transferred to the operational base at Ile Longue, Brittany, on Tuesday 14 April 2015. Work on the vessel is continuing for DCNS and its partners. Le Triomphant is the third French SSBN reconfigured for the M51 in the operational cycle.

Aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt and Cruiser sent off Yemen to Block Iranian Arms Shipment
 
The U.S. Navy has sent the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt and its escort USS Normandy, a Ticonderoga class cruiser, from the Gulf into the Arabian Sea off Yemen on April 19. The ships will join seven other U.S. vessels (including the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group, which includes a complement of more than 2,000 U.S. Marines) where Iranian-backed Huthi rebels are battling forces loyal to the Western-backed president.

French shipyard CMN has just released a video showing its HSI32 Interceptor reaching a maximum speed of 53 knots. This is an amazing and rare achievement for a military vessel since it translates into 61 Mph or 98 Km/h ! We reported a couple weeks ago that the HSI32 already reached the speed of 47 Knots during its initial sea trials.
