The flagships of the Royal Navy and the Marine nationale are lined up to work side-by-side next year to demonstrate the progress made between the two fleets. The Royal Navy's key deployment of 2012 - which will see the UK Response Force Task Group (UK RFTG) head to the Mediterranean - is due to join forces with the FS Charles de Gaulle and her carrier battlegroup for an exercise that will highlight co-operation between the two navies.

The P-8A Poseidon successfully launched the first MK 54 torpedo during a test event in the Atlantic Test Range Oct. 13.

He recognized Commander Guyot Loïc as captain of the ship.

The Navy will install the Raytheon-built Griffin missile system on board its growing fleet of Littoral Combat Ships, Rear Adm. James Murdoch, program executive officer for LCS, said today.
An unmodified version of the short-range, surface-to-air missile will be installed onto LCS-1, the USS Freedom. Modification work on the Lockheed Martin-built ship's missile launchers is now underway, so it will be able to fire the Griffin, Murdoch said.

During his official visit to Cherbourg today, Brazilian Minister of Defence Celso Amorim was able to assess the progress of the submarine programme contracted to DCNS at the end of 2008. French local daily L'Est Republicain reports that two Chinese nationals have been charged after being caught taking photographs of a "top secret" prototype engine at the Converteam plant of Champigneulles, France. They were being questionned by French Intelligence Agency.

The Government of Chile completed negotiations with his French counterpart for the acquisition of amphibious landing ship, Foudre LSD. This ship would replace the Newport class Valdivia LST, retired from active duty with the Navy of Chile on January 14, 2011, after 15 years of service.
