The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, a subsidiary of General Dynamics, a $59 million contract for the continuation of Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) Lead Yard Services and Flight III Upgrade design efforts. This contract extends the services for engineering, technical support, special studies and Flight III design work for Arleigh Burke-class ships through December 2017. The Flight III upgrades include a more powerful missile defense radar, increased shipboard power production and hull enhancements.

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced the completion of the first round of sea trials for the guided missile destroyer John Finn (DDG 113). The Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) ship, built at HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division, spent three days in the Gulf of Mexico testing the ship’s main propulsion system and other ship systems.
The U.S. Navy accepted delivery of future guided-missile destroyer USS John Finn (DDG 113) from shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) on the 75th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7. HII delivered DDG 113 after successfully completing three sets of at-sea and in-port trials which proved the ship's operational readiness.

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) announced today that the Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) system successfully completed the first fly-in aircraft recovery of an F/A-18E Super Hornet on October 13, 2016 at the Runway Arrested Landing Site (RALS) at Joint base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey. The F/A-18E fly-in recovery follows more than 200 successful roll-in test arrestments at the site since March, and more than 1,300 dead-load arrestments.
