The nuclear-powered
submarine Kuzbass is armed with missiles and torpedoes, the press
office added. "Under the program for the upgrade and repair of nuclear-powered
submarines operational with the Russian Navy, the Project 971 nuclear-powered
multipurpose submarine will re-enter service with the Russian Pacific
Fleet’s submarine forces before the end of March after the repairs
at the Zvezda Shipyard in the Primorye Territory in the Far East,"
the press office said in a press release obtained by TASS.
The submarine’s life support systems, as well as radio technical
equipment and sonar apparatus have been upgraded. "The nuclear-powered
submarine Kuzbass is currently undergoing the final stage of shipbuilders’
trials," the press office said.
The submarine Kuzbass has been under repairs at the Zvezda Shipyard
since 2009.
