India’s nuclear-powered attack submarine Chakra suffers damage in accident
 
The Russian-made nuclear-powered attack submarine Chakra (formerly known as the K-152 Nerpa submarine) leased to India’s Navy has reportedly suffered some damage in an accident, India’s Hindu newspaper reported.

According to the newspaper, the sonar dome located in the bow of the submarine was damaged.

However, it still remains unknown whether the accident happened while sailing off the coast of Visakhapatnam or while negotiating a narrow channel.

Russia leased the Project 971 Akula-class nuclear-powered attack submarine (NATO reporting name: Akula-class) to India in 2012 for ten years under a contract signed on December 30, 2011.
