Russia started Construction of Second Landing Ship Project 11711 "Pyotr Morgunov"
 
Yantar Shipyard based in Kaliningrad announced December 4th the start of construction work on the second Ivan Gren class Landing Ship (Project 11711) for the Russian Navy: The Pyotr Morgunov. According to a Yantar spokesman, the first ship of the class is due to be completed by the end of next year.

Indian Navy Selects Sikorsky’s S-70B SEAHAWK for Multi-role Helicopter Requirement
 
India’s Navy has selected Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. to fulfill the service’s Multi-Role Helicopter requirement for anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare (ASW/ASuW), among other maritime roles. Negotiations will now begin to procure 16 S-70B SEAHAWK helicopters, with an option for eight additional aircraft, along with a complete logistics support and training program.

Norway MOD To Evaluate An Acquisition Of New Submarines To Replace The Existing Ula class

Hovercraft, Maritime Helicopters and Patrol Aircraft Delivered to Iranian Navy
 
According to Fars News Agency, an SRN6 hovercraft, an anti-surface AB212 helicopter, two ASW SH-3D helicopters and a Fokker F27 maritime patrol aircraft were delivered to the Iranian Navy on December 1st during a ceremony held in the presence of Iranian Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi in Bandar Abbas port city in Southern Iran. All these equipment were existing ones that went through an overhaul process. Future naval defense projects were also unveiled.

The new boats will bring added versatility to CTF-75, increasing capabilities and readiness in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.

New Corvette for Bangladesh Navy launched by China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation
 
A new corvette ordered by the Bangladesh Navy was delivered on November 30th at the China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Company (CSOC)'s Wuchang Shipyard in Wuhan, China. CSOC is part of the part of the State Shipbuilding Corporation, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC). The corvette nammed Shadhinota (meaning "Independent") with hull number F111 is based on the Chinese Navy Type 056 Corvette (Jiangdao class).

Rheinmetall continues to expand its range of ship protection products. The Düsseldorf-based system supplier has added to the capabilities of its tried-and-tested Multi Ammunition Softkill System, or MASS. Since space and weight always present a limiting factor on any platform, Rheinmetall has integrated an anti-torpedo capability into MASS. The current concept offers the possibility of launching up to four anti-torpedo decoys from a single MASS launcher.

On 21 November 2014, a French Navy Atlantique 2 (ATL2) Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) conducted its first SCAR-C (Strike and Reconnaissance Coordination - Coordinator) flight over Iraq. The ATL2 with its FCC-A (Forward Air Controller Airborne) was appointed commander of an Air Interdiction mission consisting in two patrols (US Air Froce and Danish Air Force F-16s). This capability was already proven in combat during Harmattan and Serval operations.
