DCNS is pursuing sea trials in the Mediterranean for the combat system on the FREMM Normandie
 
The FREMM Normandie multi-mission frigate, second of the series ordered by OCCAR on behalf of the DGA (Direction Générale de l’Armement) and the French Navy, left the DCNS site in Lorient on 14 May on its way to the DCNS site in Toulon. Over the next few weeks, DCNS will perform a new series of sea trials to test the performance of the FREMM’s combat system before delivery to the French Navy at the end of 2014.

Raytheon's JSOW scores direct hits in back-to-back flight tests with U.S. Navy
 
Raytheon Company and the U.S. Navy showcased the operational capability of the Joint Standoff Weapon in challenging back-to-back flight tests. Launched from F/A-18F Super Hornets, at approximately 25,000 feet, two JSOW II C air-to-ground weapons flew preplanned routes before destroying simulated cave targets.

Boeing Delivers 100th EA-18G Growler electronic warfare jet fighter to U.S. Navy
 
Boeing delivered the 100th EA-18G Growler to the U.S. Navy, marking a major milestone in the program that has transformed airborne electronic warfare capability for the U.S. and its allies. A derivative of the F/A-18F Super Hornet, the Growler is the only aircraft in production that provides tactical jamming and electronic protection for U.S. and allied forces. Growlers provide a unique capability to nearly all U.S. combat missions and are expected to be in service until at least 2040.

The contract award represents Lockheed Martin Canada's first export sale of its Combat Management System (CMS), which was designed as a modern, affordable solution for the international market.

Leidos awarded subcontract for the Combatant Craft Medium Mark One (CCM Mk 1) program
 
Leidos, a national security, health and engineering solutions company, was awarded a United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) competitive acquisition subcontract for Combatant Craft Medium Mk-1 (CCM Mk1). The contract will include production of low observable systems, integration and testing of craft tactical computing systems, full life-cycle integrated logistics support, and incremental development and upgrades. The total potential value of the Leidos CCM Mk 1 subcontract award is approximately $87 million of the total program ceiling of $400 million won by the prime contractor, Oregon Iron Works

The X-47B unmanned combat air system is gearing up for shore-based flight test activities in preparation for the next round of sea trials this summer. The program’s test team will conduct various test events with the X-47B over the next few months in an effort to mature air traffic control and ground support standard operating procedures for co-use of airspace between unmanned and manned aircraft during day and nighttime operations.

MK 41 Vertical Launch System installed in first Royal Australian Navy Hobart Class Destroyer
 
Today marks an important milestone for the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) project with the laying of the keel for the second Hobart Class destroyer Brisbane at Techport Australia in Adelaide. AWD Alliance CEO Rod Equid said the event is a long-standing shipyard and naval tradition marking the start of the hull consolidation phase for Brisbane - the second of three DDG destroyers being built for the Royal Australian Navy as part of Australia’s largest approved major project with the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO).
Six strike-length missile modules for the Hobart Class Vertical Launch System (VLS) were this week installed into Ship 1 Hobart, marking a significant Combat System load out achievement for the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) project. The VLS MK41 modules are a critical part of the Hobart Class Combat System which will enable the Navy’s new DDG guided missile destroyers to execute air warfare and ship self-defence tasks.
