Saab
Grintek Defence has previously joined forces with Rheinmetall Waffe
Munition in delivering similar systems to both the German Navy and the
UAE Navy. The contract, valued at MSEK 10 (R14 million), represents
a cost effective solution for both the main contractor and end user
with hardware delivery expected to be completed by end 2017. An additional
contract for spare parts and services is expected to follow in 2015.
“This is a significant contract for Saab Grintek Defence. The
fact that the end customer has selected to have the Naval Laser Warning
System aboard these vessels, emphasizes the importance modern navies
are placing on laser threats, particularly in terms of littoral operations,”
says Gareth Morris Senior Marketing & Sales Executive, Saab Grintek
Defence.
Development and production will take place at Saab Grintek Defence in
Cape Town, South Africa.
