Project 1164 Atlant class "Moskva" cruiser, flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet |

While exercising air defence control missions of the
detachment, the Moskva cruiser performed live air defense training
with the launch of an S-300F (SA-N-6 Grumble) surface to air missile.
The S-300F Fort was introduced in 1984 as the original ship-based (naval)
version of the S-300P system developed by Altair with the new 5V55RM missile
with a range extended to 7–90 km (4–56 mi, equal to 3.8–50
nautical miles) and maximum target speed up to Mach 4.
According to the Russian Navy, the crew of Pytlivy frigate successfully performed surface and air target artillery firing as well. KA-27PS helicopter from the Moskva missile cruiser was deployed to control the performance of firing objectively. When trainings are finished, the ships, belonging to Black Sea Fleet, will continue to perform missions in an ocean territory. The Moskva (originally name "Slava") was laid down in 1976 in Shipyard 445 of the 61 Kommunara Shipbuilding Plant in Nikolayev, was launched in 1979, and commissioned on 30 January 1983. Slava returned to Nikolayev in December 1990 for a refit but was not returned to service until April 2000. Recommissioned as Moskva, she replaced the Kynda class cruiser Admiral Golovko as the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet. Modernization and repair will extend the life of the ship until the end of the 2020s. Another vessel of the same class, the Marshal Ustinov has just been refitted. |
