First Operational Deployment for a French Navy NH90 NFH Caïman Maritime Helicopter
 
A French Navy (Marine Nationale) NH90 NFH Caïman is currently conducting its first operational deployment on board the Horizon class air-defence destroyer Chevalier Paul, Navy Recognition learned from the French Navy. The Caïman detachment (the machine, pilots and associated support crew) belong to Flottile 31F based in Hyeres naval air station.

Steel Cutting Ceremony for the 8th Italian Navy FREMM Was Held in February
 
Another important milestone in the FREMM programme was successfully achieved on 25th February 2015 with the first steel cutting of the 8th Italian FREMM frigate. The event was marked by a ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Riva Trigoso. This new FREMM ship will be in the General Purpose configuration andwill be delivered to the Italian Navy at the beginning of 2019.

In what seems to be becoming a tradition between the two allied navies, a French Navy (Marine Nationale) Rafale M fighter crossed deck with US Navy nuclear-powever aircraft carrier (CVN) USS Carl Vinson. The US aircraft carrier and the French Navy CVN Charles de Gaulle are currently deployed in the Persian Gulf to conduct strike operations in Iraq.

First marine gas turbine alternators installed into HMS Prince of Wales
Rolls-Royce and the Aircraft Carrier Alliance have successfully completed the installation of both Rolls-Royce MT30 gas turbines into the Royal Navy's latest aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales, at Babcock's Rosyth shipyard in Scotland. Both gas turbine alternators were installed into the ship in one day, halving the time taken to install them into sister ship HMS Queen Elizabeth .

A U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier flew its first mission with the new BRU-70/A Digital Improved Triple Ejector Rack (DITER) in support of the U.S.-led campaign against ISIS in January. A single aircraft delivered 50 percent of the Laser Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) used during the insurgent airstrike due to the new rack.

The announcement was made by U.S. Navy Admiral Jonathan Greenert, chief of naval operations, in a March 4 statement to the Senate Committee on Approprations’ Subcomittee on Defense.

Northrop Grumman Wins US Navy's Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program Contract
Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded a $267 million contract by the U.S. Navy to develop and manufacture the next-generation surface electronic warfare system. The Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP) Block 3 will enhance the AN/SLQ-32 electronic warfare attack system through a series of upgrades that add new technologies and capabilities for early detection, signal analysis, threat warning and protection from anti-ship missiles.

Germany announced it has ordered 18 NH90 helicopters in "Nato Frigate Helicopter" (NFH) configuration for its navy (Bundesmarine). The helicopters will be called "Sea Lion" and will replace the ageing fleet of Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King. First deliveries of the Sea Lion helicopters are expect to start by 2018.

The Russian Black Sea Fleet counts on getting three surface ships of different types and two diesel-electric submarines in 2015, the fleet's captain Vyacheslav Trukhachyov told reporters. According to the source, it's expected that at least one Project 11356 top-of-the-line frigate, the Admiral Grigorovich, will enter service in 2015.
 

The Royal Navy has its first battlefield Wildcat crews after seven months of intensive training.
 
Eleven pilots and seven aircrew from 847 NAS and the Army’s 652 Sqn based at RNAS Yeovilton have received their Wildcat badges. During the flying phase of training, 847 NAS flew alongside the Hawks of 100 Sqn and Typhoons from 9 Sqn RAF. The aircrew also took part in a Naval gunfire support exercise with the Type 45 destroyer HMS Dauntless.

As part of NATO’s BRASS (Broadcast and Ship to Shore) programme, Selex ES has been awarded a contract to provide the Polish Navy with NATO-interoperable telecommunications systems. The systems are for the Polish Navy’s land-based radio sites and will be provided through Page Europa, prime contractor for the BRASS programme in Poland.

HMC Submarines Windsor, Victoria and Chicoutimi were all at sea in December 2014 and spent a cumulative total of approximately 260 days at sea in 2014.

Norway and Australia to cooperate on Joint Strike Missile-development
 
The Australian Government Department of Defence and the Norwegian Ministry of Defence announced they will cooperate on further development of the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) developed by KONGSBERG. Australian Minister for Defence, Mr Kevin Andrews, in a statement from the Australian Ministry of Defence said Australian cooperation on the Norwegian Joint Strike Missile, under development by Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, would ensure the weapon capability would be available for Air Force’s future fleet of F-35A Joint Strike Fighters.
