Salon JSC was established as the International Maritime Defence Show
operator in 2002 according to the IMDS-2003 Organizing Committee decision.
IMDS was successfully held in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011. It performs
the steady dynamics of development and ranks among the three world leading
naval equipment and weapons exhibitions. 409 companies and organizations
including 71 foreign ones from 29 countries, 113 business delegations
from Russian and foreign enterprises and over 42 000 professional visitors
participated in IMDS-2011 exposition section.

Why exhibit at IMDS 2013
The quality and quantity of the foreign participants is growing steadily.
91 official foreign delegations from 68 countries has visited IMDS-2011.
Successful negotiations were held with the delegates during the show,
some arrangements were attained and the appropriate documents being important
for extending the exportation of Russian products and international cooperation
were signed. The exposition was held inside - in three halls - and on
the outdoor spaces of an exhibition complex with a total area of 15 000
square meters and also in the waters of the Gulf of Finland. Scientific
and research organizations, design bureaus, shipyards, producers of devices,
units, rescue equipment, radio electronic components, material, fittings
and software were widely demonstrated.
Not only naval shipbuilders but all leading production and design enterprises
for commercial shipbuilding and other related industries participated
in the Show. 35 ships and boats were demonstrated at IMDS-2011 including
the all-new Russian corvette Soobrazitelniy (project 20382) and navy frigates
from Germany, the Netherlands and USA. 10 artillery and shooting systems
were demonstrated for the official foreign delegations and press representatives
during the range practice at the firing ground of the Ministry of Defence
“Rzhevka”. The delegates visited 8 design and shipbuilding
companies. The aerobatic team Russ performed the demonstration flights.
26 congress and business events including 4 international scientific conferences
were held during IMDS. IMDS prize 2 sailing regattas for IMDS prize were
traditionally conducted as well. 147 foreign and Russian mass media representatives
were given the accreditation at the press center during the Show.
IMDS was promoted in more than 56 foreign countries and all regions of
Russia. Under Government Executive Order of Russian Federation No. 1310-p
of 28 July, 2011, the sixth International Maritime Defence Show (IMDS-2013)
will take place in July 2013 in St.-Petersburg. IMDS Organizer is the
Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russian Federation. The show is held
with the participation of the Ministry of Defence of Russian Federation,
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation, Federal Service
of Military-Technical Cooperation, the Government of St.Petersburg and
Rosoboronexport. Exhibition Operator is Morskoy Salon JSC.
