"There
are a lot of potential buyers in the (Asia Pacific) region. Indian Defense
Minister, Manohar Parrikar has revealed intention to back the export of
national weapons. I would say, that Malaysia is a potential customer for
BrahMos missiles," Mishra said. "The final decision
to supply BrahMos missiles to a third party depends on Russian and Indian
governmental bodies responsible for it," the company`s director
said. He did not mention the types of BrahMos cruise missiles, which may
be supplied to Malaysia in prospect. "We feel that several other countries in the (Asia Pacific) region may be interested in the acquisition of our weapons, namely, Vietnam and Indonesia," Mishra pointed out. He said that India`s so-called 'Look East' policy calls for closer relationships (including those in the military-technical cooperation area) with Asia Pacific countries. Mishra said that BrahMos Aerospace has secured agreements with the leading global designers of diesel-electric submarines (SSK) to integrate the BrahMos missiles in the armament sets of those vessels. According to him, Russian, German, French and Spanish submarine designers have decided to supply the related submarine specifications to the Indian company. "With the appropriate approval issued by Indian government, we will be able to integrate our missiles into various submarines intended for export," Mishra pointed out.- © Copyright 2016 TASS.
