Online Show Daily

For the 50th edition of Euronaval exhibition Naval Group is showcasing state-of-art innovations created for modern navies, demonstrating its capabilities in modern military ship and submarine building along with high tech solutions for systems and competence as leading naval integrator.

At Euronaval 2018, Safran Electronics & Defense is presenting for the first time the new PASEO XLR (eXtra Long Range) optronic fire control system, selected by Naval Group for integration on the French navy’s new medium-size FTI frigates.

At the occasion of EURONAVAL 2018, Naval Group and ECA Group signed the letter of intent for a contract worth more than € 12 million for the supply of equipment (electric propulsion and variable speed drives), as well as associated spare parts, for submarines 5 and 6 of the Barracuda program, led by French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA). The contract will run for 53-month period and will end in 2023.

Naval Group has developed a high performance and highly secure Li-ion batteries system to provide its conventional submarines with outstanding operational capabilities, as well as an immersion period and reloading time largely optimised. The navies that will operate this new technology will boast a major technological superiority on theatres of operations.

Rheinmetall is showcasing its Sea Snake-27 at EURONAVAL 2018, a versatile 27mm revolver gun designed specifically for maritime applications. The Sea Snake-27 is based on the tried-and-tested MLG-27NG light naval gun. A gas-operated design, this automatic revolver cannon fires 27mm x 145 ammunition.

It was in March last year that SEAir, the designer of flying sailing and motor boats, was awarded a new prize (7 in only 2 years!), that of the prestigious competition SOFLAB « Le Cercle de l’Arbalète » of the French Army Special Forces. An innovation prize coveted by 250 start-ups. Since then it has followed a series of tests to enable the Marine Nationale and the Special Forces to discover the advantages of navigating with retractable and servo-controlled foils.

As nations move to the sea, mining energy, mineral exploitation, fishery, and trade it becomes essential to extend the security beyond the coastline, to monitor and safeguard their Economic Exclusion Zone (EEZ). Monitoring the growing activity offshore means countries must commit many more assets to maritime security.

At Euronaval 2018, Austrian Company Schiebel showcases its Camcopter S-100, an automatic Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) unmanned helicopter that can be used by land and naval forces. Recently, Schiebel demonstrated the effectiveness of the Camcopter S-100 for search and rescue (SAR), and maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities during the trial program for the Belgian Navy.
