Belgian firearms manufacturer FN Herstal continue to develop and promotes its new range of weapon station for maritime use at Euronaval 2018, International maritime and navy forces defense exhibition in Paris, France. The Sea deFNder is a remote weapon station especially designed to be used on small vessels or ships armed with 12.7mm machine gun.

Taking advantage of its long-standing firearms expertise, FN Herstal designed and developed a complete family of remote weapon stations called deFNder in order to meet today's operational requirements. The defender Remote Weapon Stations provide optimized remote firing capability while keeping the operator completely under armor protection.
The Sea deFNder is the maritime variant of the deFNder Medium. It can integrate all FN Herstal machine guns up to .50 12.7mm caliber, including the unique FN M3R™ with high firing rate of 1,100 RPM.
Specifically dedicated to Naval Forces and Coastguards, the Sea deFNder fulfills an extensive range of missions, such as anti-piracy, anti-terrorism, interception of drug or people smugglers, and surveillance of territorial waters.
The right side of the weapon station is equipped with a sight module that can be configured according to the requests of the customer using CCD camera and IR Infra Red system cooled or uncooled. There is an ammo box on the left side with 500 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition or 1,000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
The Sea deFNder can be armed with different weapons manufactured by FN Herstal including the FN MINIMI 5.56mm caliber, the FN Minimi MK 3 7.62mm caliber, the FN MAG 7.62mm machine gun or the 12.7mm heavy machine gun M2 or M3.
