DSME Launches 4th Type 214 1,800-ton SSK Submarine for ROK Navy
 
South Korea's Navy held a ceremony Tuesday to launch its fourth 1,800-ton, 214-type submarine to boost its underwater warfare capabilities. The fourth submersible of 214-type, which represents the size of the warship, was launched in the afternoon at a shipyard of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in Geoje Island, southeast of Seoul, the Navy said in a statement.

“Vikramaditya” Aircraft Carrier Started Air Operation Trials
 
It is worth reminding that “Vikramaditya” left shores of Severodvinsk on 03 Jul 2013. As scheduled, the sea trials of the ship are progressing well in the White Sea. “Just a couple of hours after undocking, the engine and boilers were started and the ship moved to the trials area of the White Sea,” said Mr Sergey Novoselov, Head of Foreign Military Cooperation Department.

Huntington Ingalls Industries' Ingalls Shipbuilding division launched the company's fourth U.S. Coast Guard National Security Cutter (NSC), Hamilton (WMSL 753), on Saturday. "Launching a ship involves quite a bit of logistics, and our team pulled this off in a very safe and efficient manner," said Ingalls' NSC Program Manager Jim French. "It's a weeklong process to first translate the ship across land into our floating drydock and then going through an extensive ship-wide check-out process to launch.

Northrop Grumman Awarded $617 Million for Full-Rate Production E-2D Advanced Hawkeyes
 
The U.S. Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation a $617 million contract for five full-rate production Lot 1 E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft. "Moving from low-rate production into full-rate production is a significant milestone for the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye program," said Bart LaGrone, vice president, E-2/C-2 programs, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems. "We look forward to manufacturing and delivering a mature and effective airborne early warning, battle management, command and control system."

India on Monday launched its first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, at Cochin Shipyard in the South West of the country. Minister of Defence, Arakkaparambil Kurian Anthony said the Navy's capabilities must be enhanced to ensure that it maintains "high operational preparedness to thwart any likely misadventure against our national interest."

USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) completed the second of three combat systems testing and sea trials, in support of the first-ever integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) destroyer Aegis baseline nine combat systems upgrade, July 19. The upgrade, part of the Navy's destroyer modernization program, began in April 2012 and will be completed following the third combat systems testing and sea trials, scheduled for September.

In late July 2013, partners of the Marine Robotic System of Self-Organizing, Logically Linked Physical Nodes (MORPH) European Project concluded five-day sea trials in Toulon (FR), having successfully integrated several AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) and ASVs (Autonomous Surface Vehicles) into a coordinated multi-node MORPH system using EvoLogics underwater acoustic communication devices.

The trial, run by the Navy's Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV), is part of a series of post-delivery test and trials during which the ship and its major systems are exercised, tested and corrected as required.

In addition to being the no. 1 NH90 NFH received by Belgium, it also is the first built at Eurocopter’s Donauwörth, Germany industrial site – demonstrating this facility’s capability to assemble and deliver these new-generation twin-engine helicopters.
