Iran’s Navy will receive cruise missiles with a range of more than 300 kilometers, the director of Iran’s Defense Ministry’s Aerospace Organization said on Sunday. “The new missiles will have “enhanced precision” and other “super advanced capabilities,” Brigadier General Mehdi Farahi was quoted by Press TV as saying.

Turkish company Roketsan joins IDAS common submarine missile project
 
The Turkish company Roketsan and the German IDAS Consortium formed by ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and Diehl BGT Defence signed a cooperation agreement to develop and supply the submarine-launched IDAS (= Interactive Defence and Attack System for Submarines) missile. The accord was inked at the IDEF Trade Show in Istanbul on May 9, 2013. The signature ceremony took place in the presence of Thomas Kossendey, member of the German Parliament and parliamentarian secretary to the federal minister of defence and the German Armament Director Detlef Selhausen.

The Indian Navy has commissioned its first squadron of MiG-29K/KUB shipborne fighters, dubbed the "Black Panthers," a MiG spokesperson in India said on Saturday. A carrier-borne aviation force has been formally established as part of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy, military sources said on Friday. The forming of the force, approved by the Central Military Commission (CMC), demonstrates that the development of China's aircraft carriers has entered a new phase, the sources said. The force comprises carrier-borne fighter jets, jet trainers and ship-borne helicopters that operate anti-submarine, rescue and vigilance tasks.

Alenia Aermacchi has signed an agreement with Savunma Sanayii Müstesarligi (SSM), the Turkish Undersecretariat for Defence Industries to deliver two ATR 72-600 TMUA (Turkish Maritime Utility Aircraft) and six ATR 72-600 TMPA (Turkish Maritime Patrol Aircraft) to the Turkish Navy.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who officiated the ceremony, presented the commissioning warrant to the Commanding Officer of RSS Swordsman, Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Loh Mun Heng.

Thales’s APAR Multi Function Radar Performs Flawlessly on Danish Frigate
 
The first Sea Acceptance Test (SAT) of Thales’s APAR multifunction radar on the new Iver Huitfeldt class frigates of the Royal Danish Navy was a success. Thanks to the excellent cooperation with the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization, this test could be completed in one week instead of a more usual three weeks.

Iranian Navy Commander: More Jamaran Destroyers will be built to boost Iran naval power
