DSME selected to design ROK Navy's New Auxiliary Submarine Rescue (ASR-II) Ship
 
South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has just been selected to design the Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy's new Auxiliary Submarine Rescue ship or ASR-II. The vessel is intended to strengthen the existing Cheonghaejin Class ASR submarine rescue ship as the ROK Navy is procuring nine Sohn Wonyil class submarines (Type 214) as well as a new class of large submarine, the KSS-III.

Insitu Awarded RQ-21A Blackjack Drone Systems Contract by US Navy Naval Air Systems Command
 
Under the terms of its latest contract, Insitu will build six RQ-21A Blackjack systems for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The $78-million Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (STUAS) Lot IV Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) contract is the latest event in the program’s progression toward the Initial Operational Test and Evaluation (IOT&E) phase.

Smarter, faster and sharper - that is the tagline for the new LMVs which will replace the 20-year-old Patrol Vessels (PVs). Designed from the onset to be operated by a leaner crew, the LMV uses technology to its advantage by automating processes with remote systems.

China Commissioned the 2nd Type 052D Destroyer Changsha (173) with PLAN South Sea Fleet
 
According to the official journal of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) the Type 052D (NATO reporting name Luyang III class) destroyer Yangsha (hull number 173), was just commissioned on August 12 with China's South Sea Fleet. The vessel is now homeported at Yulin Naval Base located in the Yalong Bay (city of Sanya) on Hainan island.

Seven PLAN Vessels Left for Sea of Japan for Large Joint Amphibious Drills with Russian Navy
 
Seven People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) vessels on Saturday left east China's port city of Qingdao for the Sea of Japan where they will join Russian counterparts for a nine-day naval exercise. The drills, codenamed Joint Sea-2015 (II), will take place from Aug. 20 to 28 in the Peter the Great Gulf, waters off the Clerk Cape, and in and above the Sea of Japan. These maneuvers will for the first time involve a joint amphibious assault drill.

First Chinese-Built C28A Corvette for Algerian Navy Started Sea Trials in East China Sea
 
According to pictures taken by Chinese spotters, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a wholly owned subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC, the largest shipbuilding group in China) started sea trials of the first C28A Corvette on order for the Algerian Navy. Algeria signed a contract with China Shipbuilding Trading Co (CSTC) for construction of three C28A corvettes in March 2012.

At the TADTE (Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition) 2015 defense exhibition held this week in Taipei, the Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology (CSIST) unveiled for the first time the Sea Oryx naval air defense missile system. The system appears close in concept to the American/German RAM (Rolling Airframe Missile) system developed by Raytheon/RAM SYS or to the Chinese Type 710.SJ01-24 launcher for HQ-10 missile.

The helicopters are armed with two FN Hertsal FN RMP rocket machine gun pods combining a 50 caliber machinegun and three 2.75 inch rockets.

Commanded by Captain Darwin Alberto Alonso Torres, ARC 7 de Agosto has a Spanish Navy liaison team on board to help co-ordinate the day to day operations with the EU Naval Force flagship, ESPS Galicia.
