MH-60R Multi-Mission Helicopters and associated equipment Foreign Military Sale for Saudi Arabia
The U.S. State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for MH-60R Seahawk Multi-Mission Helicopters and associated equipment, parts and logistical support for an estimated cost of $1.9 billion. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on May 20, 2015.

Refit and maintenance of RNLN torpedo ship Zr Ms Mercuur by Damen
 
Damen Shiprepair & Conversion has recently won the contract for the life-prolonging maintenance and refit project of the Royal Netherlands Navy torpedo ship Zr Ms Mercuur. The ship, originally built at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding in 1987, will be refitted in order to make her suitable for a range of new tasks and assignments. The aim of the maintenance project is to keepthe ship operational until 2025.

A first in Europe: French Navy FREMM Frigate Aquitaine fires MBDA's Naval Cruise Missile
 
The frigate Aquitaine, the first unit in the multi-mission frigate program (FREMM), has successfully fired its first naval cruise missile on May 19 on the firing ranges of the DGA missile testing centre off Levant Island. This is the first time that a European surface ship has fired a cruise missile.

BAE Systems has been awarded a contract to produce and deliver five Bofors 40 Mk4 Naval Guns for the Brazilian Navy’s 500T “Macae” Class Patrol Vessels. The 40 Mk4 gun is the latest naval version of the successful Bofors 40mm Gun that is used by many Navies and Coast Guards around the world.

The Fourth Kamorta class Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) Corvette (Project-28), christened ‘Kavaratti’, was launched today at a glittering ceremony held at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE), Kolkata. The Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri, Shri Rao Inderjit Singh was the Chief Guest at the occasion. In keeping with the nautical traditions, the ship was launched by Smt Manita Singh, wife of the Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri. After an invocation to the Gods was recited, Smt Manita Singh broke a coconut on the Ship’s Bow, named the ship and wished her future crew good luck.

A team of U.S. Navy and defense industry contractors recently delivered an advanced helicopter training device to the Royal Australian Navy. The MH-60R Foreign Military Sales (FMS) team from the Naval Aviation Training Systems Program Office (PMA-205) and Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division, in conjunction with CAE USA of Tampa, Florida, defined and procured training devices to support aircrew proficiency and real-world mission rehearsal for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in February.

Northrop Grumman's Voyage Management System Approved for Use on US Navy SSN and SSGN
 
The U.S. Navy has approved the use of Northrop Grumman Corporation's Voyage Management System (VMS), version 9.3, onboard SSN and SSGN nuclear powered submarines. The VMS software package will be installed on 55 SSNs and four SSGNs operating globally from all U.S. Navy submarine homeports. Installations have already begun and will be completed by the end of 2016.

During the IDEF 2015 defense exhibition (held recently in Istanbul, Turkey) Turkish shipyard ADIK (Anadolu Shipyard) unveiled a fairly unique Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) concept: The design has a flat top to accomodate several helicopters as well as a well deck like any LHD, but it is also uniquely fitted with a large door at its bow, similar to Russia's Ivan Gren class). This LHD design would therefore be able to perform beaching operations like a Landing Ship Tank (LST).

NATO Anti-Submarine Warfare Exercise ‘Dynamic Mongoose’ Concluded

RAM is a highly successful, 39-year U.S. cooperative program with the German government that has yielded the U.S. taxpayer more than $800 million in cost avoidance and has delivered arguably one of the most capable anti-ship cruise missile defense systems in the world. The submarine is nammed "Yu Gwan-sun", a patriotic martyr who died in her youth while struggling against Japanese coercion.

Chinese Aerospace Industry Started Research on a STOVL Naval Jet
 
According to China Daily, China's aviation industry is working on the development of aircraft with short takeoff and vertical landing capabilities needed for an important role in the Chinese navy's future operations, military experts said. "Research and development on components of STOVL aircraft, such as the engine, have started," Wang Ya'nan, deputy editor-in-chief of Aerospace Knowledge magazine, told China Daily.

Russian Navy Aircraft Carrier Kuznetsov in Dry Dock for Unknown Reasons and Length of Time
 
Russia’s sole aircraft carrier, The Admiral Kuznetsov, went into the dock of a shipyard in north Russia for repairs, the Northern Fleet’s press office reported on Thursday, giving no timeframe for the repairs. "The repair workers will first make the ship’s inspection in the dock, after which a decision will be made on the scope of the repairs," the fleet’s press office said, adding the repairs would be carried out by specialists of the 82nd shipyard at Roslyakovo in the Murmansk Region.
