JSC Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec State Corporation) is organizing Russia’s exhibit at the International Maritime Defence Exhibition DIMDEX 2018, which will be held in Doha (Qatar) on March 12-14, 2018. The exhibition will also be attended by the leading defence enterprises from the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, China and other countries.

Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference, DIMDEX 2018, to be held in Qatar between March 12-14 is going to be the sixth this year under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar. DIMDEX, is proudly hosted and organised by Qatar Armed Forces.It is expected that the fair will host visitors from more than sixty countries from Europe, America, Far East and Gulf regions.DIMDEX, which has been held every two years since 2008, was started as an event on maritime defence and has broadened its framework over the years into a structure in which aviation, electronic systems and land systems are exhibited.

At DIMDEX 2018, the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference currently held in Doha, Qatar, BAE Systems is showcascing for the very first time the proposed design for the Type 31e frigate competition in the UK. BAE Systems has brought together its warship design and engineering capability and combat systems expertise with Cammell Laird, the commercial shipbuilder, in a Teaming Agreement to bid for the contract to deliver Type 31e, the UK’s adaptable general purpose frigate.

Barzan Holdings, the first defence and security company responsible for empowering the military capabilities of the Qatar Armed Forces in the State of Qatar, has made its official public launch on the first day of DIMDEX 2018 running from 12 to 14 March. The launch took place during DIMDEX’s opening ceremony in the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) and included a detailed presentation of the company revealed to the public for the first time.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Emir of the State of Qatar, attended this morning’s opening ceremony of the sixth edition of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2018), being held at the Qatar National Convention Center, representing His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.

For the first time ever, Leonardo is exhibiting its OTO Marlin 40, the newest member of its naval defence systems family. The turret was unveiled during the 2018 edition of Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX), which started today in Qatar.

Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX) has welcomed a procession of ships from participating navies, including Bangladesh, India, Italy, Oman, Pakistan UK and USA. The ships docked at Hamad Port, one of the Middle East’s largest ports, enabling a selection of the world’s largest seafaring ships to harbour at its state-of-the-art facilities. DIMDEX has now received more than 80 warships since its first edition in 2008.

“Collaboration in Future Technologies” is the key message from the United Kingdom as they send a strong delegation to DIMDEX 2018. Fleur Thomas, Regional Director in the Department of International Trade’s Defence and Security Organisation leads the UK delegation. In addition, ships from the Royal Navy are attending. This strong UK presence reiterates the importance of the strategic defence and security relationship between the UK and Qatar.

At the 10th edition of DIMDEX (Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference) from the 12th to the 14th March, Leonardo will be demonstrating its state-of-the-art capabilities in defence, security and aerospace, showcasing a number of key products and systems that could help secure Qatar and the surrounding region. This includes the protection of civil infrastructure such as airports, ports, sports stadia and oil and gas platforms. Leonardo’s focus will be on its range of naval capabilities, ranging from turn-key combat management systems for maritime surveillance and security, for all classes of military vessels, to naval guns, ammunition and underwater systems.

In the 15th-16th century it was all about naval supremacy. Typical actors were the Portuguese vessels in the Indian Ocean and Ottoman Turks in the Mediterranean,only to mention some, that raided and bent to submission coastal cities for complete sea route and market dominion.

The Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX 2018) announced the (provisional) list of visiting vessels for this year's event. Hamad Port, one of the Middle East’s largest port, is set to welcome for the first time the Visiting Warship Display at its state-of-the-art facilities. The recently opened 28.5 square kilometres Hamad Port, operated by Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar), boasts a 4 km long, 700 meters wide, and 17 meters deep basin, enabling it to harbour some of the world’s largest seafaring ships.
